How Does UConn's Season End?

  • Total voters

So let me get this straight.

We go 29-5 overall. End the regular season ranked #6 in the country. We go 17-3 in conference and lose in the conference championship game to the 1 seed. We get a 2 seed in the NCAA tourney and....

9 people voting have us losing to someone named Furman
38 people (13%) have us not getting out of the first weekend.
59% of people don't have us making the Final 4.

What happened to the Boneyard? We have people openly betting against UConn during the regular season and now we have people brazenly predicting (not if but) when they'll lose? You all really disgust me. The OG Yard would have spent the next 3 weeks insulting and shaming you all beyond reproach.
I saw Swami post recently, who even does the hanging nowadays?

We need some good mojo this year.

All this board wants to do this year is to doubt and criticize and complain about this team.

Kenpom gives us about a 67% chance to make the second weekend which is the lowest of any 2 seed

I've started to use Torvik a lot more this year. It feels like there's been more noise with Kenpom and artificially inflated predictive metrics. Could also be a cope bc we've been higher in Torvik

I'm out. There is no mojo here anymore. What used to be a firestorm has turned into stupid haikus and the occasional "Doooomed" nonsense.

When has the haiku’s ever worked?

St. John's if Duke has Ngongba. St. John's might lose to Northern Iowa (it's a bad matchup for them).
Northern Iowa slows the game down and sends all 5 people back on defense and none to go to the offensive boards. They also have everyone rebound on the defensive end without anyone looking for an outlet pass.

This is going to be a really interesting tourney, where many theories may be either proven, or forever discredited. My favorite such theory is that we won't lose to an out of conference team. I know that we lost to Florida last year, don't need to be reminded. But they were a title winning team and we were having a down year. This year we played our best brand of ball against the best OOC competition. I look forward to seeing if I am full of s--- or not. Second theory is that the big east whistle impacts games (this is a Danny Hurley theory). Well, if we face St. John's again this year, we are going to find out. And the third one is that Duke is a paper tiger. I see them getting beat by Pitino because I do not believe they have enough muscle to handle St. John's. I will be a happy man if that happens.

And they don't turn it over and force opponents into jump shots. Sounds like a problem for St. John's.

However, it's Pitino and St. John's is a lot more talented, so might not matter. Stylistic matchups only go so far.

I get the consternation— it makes no sense. We only have three big east teams spread out among the 68. It’s not like we have 10 teams and no place to put them. In addition , why wud u give Duke - who the overall 1 seed- the toughest bracket ? It’s not even close. I still can’t believe the committee thinks there’s 20-25 teams better than St. John’s. Side note : I’d deff rather see Duke than St. John’s now that dukes pg is out

You don't spread them out because the teams don't want to be spread out. They all want to be in the East region.

I think St. John's ultimately will wear them down, but this is the type of team that St. John's struggles with.
