I'm very excited to be attending tonight's V Foundation Gala hosted by Dick Vitale. Calhoun is one of the three coaches being honored tonight, along with Bill Self and Bobby Bowden. I only met Calhoun once during the Dream Season and have always wanted to meet him again. Ollie and some other former players are expected to be there, I can't wait.

I'm sure as one of the honorees, his time with me will be short. If I get to chat him up a little longer, I'd be happy to pass along any consensus thoughts from The Boneyard. I plan to basically thank him profusely for putting us on the map and share that thanks to him I still chat and text with many college friends 5 months out of the year, people I would have otherwise lost touch with other than Facebook. I know many of you will be seeing him June 8 but living in Florida this might be my last chance. I'll post any good pictures I'm able to get tonight, especially of some of the former players.

If you get a chance, see if he knows who/what our main priorities are for 2014 recruiting wise.

I saw Calhoun speak recently at the Boston Globe and he was friendly and very open to questions both before and after the event. Seemed pretty candid in his answers too and much more relaxed than I've seen him before in settings like this. I don't know if he'll answer recruiting questions but he was pretty approachable. Have fun.

Great to hear he is more relaxed and happy. He deserved everything he got.

Thanks him for having 10 toes in before most everyone else did.

It's great knowing Calhoun is at peace in retirement with his 3 National Championships. Especially after the media tried to bury him for years. He looks younger and healthier since Ollie was named permanent Head Coach. Regardless of conference affiliation the UConn brand is only going up with KO as the general. So happy JC is still around campus every day.

Man you are lucky. I was just in Sarasota today and would have been at the gala if it wasn't a $1000 get in cost.

So how was the gala? Did Calhoun speak at all? If so what did he say?

Hide the women and children. That looks like a Domer tie JC is sporting...

The event was spectacular. We got to sit with Calhoun for 15 minutes, I'm still in disbelief that he spent that much time with us. The only former players were Jake and a late arriving Kemba. KO's wife is sick so he was a late scratch. Met many coaches throughout the night.I'll write a full report when I get home later
