"TOO good"? While I like this team and think they'll be pretty good (with Bazz back) I'm guessing you are very young and haven't been watching UConn hoops for very long. During the 1990s and 2000s UConn probably had at least 10 teams better than this one. Only 4 of them got to the Final Four.

Well said. Too many different things can happen in a one and done tournament. This is by no means a juggernaut of a team. Solid yes, but reserving your rooms in Dallas is being message board optimisitc

Agreed. Plus half the boneyard crowned us repeat champs when AD committed to UConn and we all know how that turned out.

List 'em Hoop. We got time. I'd like to see how many of them had a Junior/Senior back court that could fill it like Bazz and Boat will next year.

Bazz, Boat, Omar, DeAndre, Kentan, Tyler, Niels, Enosch, Rodney (practicing).....STOP IT....We'll be TOO good.....

Next year--we will be stacked like any top team. What I believe might be the differentiator is this team's heart and chemistry. I think we have star players go to guys and now we have a huge foundation of big men. Upfront we have Wolf(who should be really good by next year) Nolan who was looking like he had NBA caliber type talent at 6-10 late in the year Facey at 6-9 Bridah who looks like he is 7-1 and Olander. I think Boatright might have to take the JR Smith role as sixth man--still getting his 30 minutes but balancing off size on the D in the backcourt to start games.

Projection

C-Wolf
F-Daniels(he is taking the Carmelo Anthony 4 man spot in starting unit)
G Giffey
G Calhoun
G Napier
6th man Boatright
C-Bridah
F Facey
F Olander
F Nolan
F/G Leon T
G Samuels

O.K., I'll try to do that later today.

I definitely love that UConn will have very experienced and good guard play. That's paramount in college basketball. Guards dictate college basketball. I think the questions all reside around the frontcourt. How good will Daniels be next year? Will Wolf be here and if he is will he be ready to give them even more? Can the freshmen bigs heavily contribute? How good will they be? Who is going to rebound and play some decent interior defense? Can they get some interior scoring from the bigs? They can't get outrebounded like they did this year and be a national championship contender next year and they also need some more balance than just relying on the guards to score. This isn't April 1998 or April 2003 where we knew exactly what we had coming back. You want to dispute anything I just wrote?

Isn't this a hanging offense? Seems like he's putting a torch to the mojo.

We're DOOMED! DOOMED, I tell ya!

Yup, somebody needed to say it to appease the college basketball gods!

Why do people keep on insisting that RB will be a backup? It won't happen we need his ball handling on the court. OC handle is not good enough to be a second guard. I could see substituing NG for OC as he is a better inside player. This way OC can be instant offense. Though I doubt this will happen also as Ollie loves the 3 guard lineup the best.

I always get nervous when I see freshmen listed as key players.

Yeah it is a bit puzzling that people who want Giff to start tend to take Boatright out and not OC. All 3 will be very important to our success regardless of who is out there when the ball is tipped.

It's hard to say right now how good they're going to be, but you can't count too many UConn teams in the past that had 5 starters come back.

if OC improves his handle he is going to be a savage offensively.
if DD has legitimately gotten stronger and improves on his end of year play he will be an All American.
if EW and PN improve and the freshmen contribute this will be a top 10 team all year with a legit shot at a #1 seed and a final four. that being said its a lot of ifs so ill wait and see with cautious optimism.

This team heading into next year is much better than our NC 2011 team was heading into the season. Who knew in 2011 Kemba would take over college BB, AO was solid but not great, and the freshmen were much better than we expected. This team is very solid at 4 positions. If any of our freshmen become solid contributors, if Wolf can play 25 minutes and give us 10 and 8 and if Boat improves his handle and OC makes substantial improvement from Freshmen to Soph., this team is a final four contender. A lot of if's but none of them are a far reach.

Wolf won't give you 10 and 8 over a season. Maybe against the cupcakes but not against legitimate Big East frontcourts. Facey and Daniels will decide how far we get.

I believe it is properly stated "see y'all at Cowboys Stadium.". If you say "you all" you will stand out too much. :)

I'll give it a shot...

1990 - Tate George and Chris Smith with John Gwynn, Sellers, Henefeld, Burrell
1994 - Ollie, Allen, Sheffer with Donyell
1995 - Ollie, Allen, Sheffer with Donny Marshall
1996 - Allen, Sheffer, Moore
1998 - Khalid El Amin, Rip Hamilton, Ricky Moore with Jake, KFree
1999 - Khalid El Amin, Rip Hamilton, Ricky Moore with Jake, Kfree
2001 - Taliek Brown, Tony Robertson with Caron
2002 - Taliek Brown, Ben Gordon with Caron, Okafor
2003 - Taliek Brown, Ben Gordon with Okafor
2004 - Taliek Brown, Ben Gordon, Rashad Anderson, Denham Brown with Okafor
2005 - Marcus Williams, Rashad Anderson with Villanueva and Rudy
2006 - Marcus Williams, Rashad Anderson with Rudy, Hilton, Boone, Denham Brown
2009 - Kemba Walker, AJ Price with Stanley
2011 - Kemba Walker, Jeremy Lamb, Napier with others

That's just off the top of my head. I may have a couple guys out of place, though I don't think so. But I'd say most of those guard combos are at least as good as Bazz / Boat. And then look at their supporting cast. I'm not sure this team has better supporting pieces than a single one of those teams on my list.
