SEE AYANNA 3X3 Basketball for schedule of game times

NO UPDATES, but I will post the next schedule of starting times
and opponents after the first round of game ( Tuesday and Thursday of
next week for the USA ). The Scoring is similar to the regular FIBA format. FIBA
're-seeds " the field after the first "POOL" round based upon " points"
earned. My impression, because the tournament ends on SUNDAY, is that
the Quarterfinals are on FRIDAY, the SEMIs on Saturday , and the Finals for
Gold and Bronze on Sunday. I will check to make sure that this is correct.
I expect all the future rounds to be about at the same time of the day: six
hours difference from the ETS of the USA. The Bronze game is generally first;
the Gold, the " final" final , of course. There could be some upsets, THE USA
won one tournament in Sudden Death: First team to score two points, no clock,
Any update?

no time outs! One two point shot from the outside ( a three pointer) and it's over!

I should be very interesting to see Ayanna live....thanks for the scheduling.

USA wins by a comfortable margin. Would have been an easy win but they missed 5 or 6 free throws in a row. Williams looked very good.

.-.
USA 19 total points, Slovenia 18 total points, Mongolia 15 total points,
and Belarus 13 total points. Why pay attentions to Points? Ties are
broken by points scored! ( i.e. who moves on to the next round after
the POOL play and the re-seeding ). Watch Slovenia player #12. She hit 4 three from beyond the three point line ( i.e. for two points each). Mongolia came
from "way back" to having the third highest point total. More USA later in
day vs MONGOLIA (Mongolia lives by the three and, I believe, will die by
the three vs the USA). Mikaylah Williams looks good. FYI = the full program
names are : Ayanna Renee Patterson, Janiah Tyir Elise Barker, Kira
Carroll Rice, and Mikaylah Marie Williams. Let the games continue!!

.-.
Williams was very impressive and she's the youngest player on the team. If Barker can hit her 3's like she did this game. the USA is unbeatable.
Barker is a riot. She was being chased by a flying insect and was going through all kinds of gyrations in order to get away.
Her teammates were cracking up.

US mashes Slovenia 21-7 in their 2nd game. Williams is impressive. Rice looks like a floor General and Ayanna is a beast.
Ayanna looked much better in Game 2. Made her FT's. Funny how she scored the 21st point with 3+ minutes left and then went back to defend Slovenia. Talk about not playing to the score. ;)

Slovenia appeared to employ the “hack a Husky” strategy in an effort to defend Ayanna, since they had no one who could match up with her physically. I suspect that UConn’s opponents will face the same challenge once Ayanna arrives in Storrs.

Williams is the standout after two games. Barker impressive. She looks a bit taller than Patterson. Wouldn’t mind having her at UConn but unlikely. Should be going hard after Williams.
Definitely won't see Barker at UConn. Her top five are Ole Miss, South Carolina, Georgia, Louisville, and Duke.

Belarus 22 Russia 9
USA 21 Slovenia 7 smooth shooting, esp. M.Williams!
Russia needs to do something to avoid missing the
cut to the next round!! Russia still has to play USA!
Note: I just realized that all " tie ups" = "jump balls"
go to the defensive team. No "alternate" possessions in 3X3!
Note also: # 16 for Belarus " Polina ------" with MULTIPLE
BLOCKS against RUSSIA. To be continued, I believe that
the next game for the USA is against Mongolia ( sorry about the
previous error!) on 8/26 and then against Russia, second game
on 8/26. The " old" schedule has these games at 6:40 AM EST
and 9:55 AM EST., but recheck to avoid any change of schedules!
I have the first game on Thursday as Belarus vs Slovenia at 6:15 AM.
Eight women's games tomorrow in Pool A and Pool C.

.-.

There will be PLENTY of stats on the FIBA web page.
Note: Pool D winners , first and second place, will play Pool B (USA) first and second place finishers in the Quarterfinals ( 4 Games ). This will be Saturday
August 28 4:15 PM Pool D first place vs Pool B second place
August 28 4:40 PM Pool B first place vs Pool D second place

Third place game August 29 8:40
Final GOLD game August 29 14:05 Please recheck later in the week!

Fiba site for these games with stats and schedules:

My " times" are OFF. Saturday's games appear ( to me ) to
be 4:15 AM for Pool D1 vs Pool B 2
and 4:40 AM for Pool B1 vs Pool D2 Pool C and Pool A playoffs follow.
Also,
With FRANCE "OUT" of Pool D, many of the times were changed today.
the winner and runner up will be determined by the Estonia vs Hungary game.
They have each beaten the Swiss in the restructured times of games completed
today. So. Assuming USA is B1 or B2 they will play either Hungary or Estonia
in the Quarterfinals. Semis are then SUNDAY 6:55 AM AND 7:00 AM with
the losers of those games playing for the BRONZE at 8:40 AM the GOLD
is now scheduled for the afternoon at 2:05 PM EST or 14:50 in the 24 hour clock rendering. I'll stop doing this, " IT HURTS MY MIND" ( a quote from
MIDDLEMARCH by George Eliot.)

.-.
A somewhat raggedy US team crushes a short Mongolia team 21-8. I actually felt sorry for the Mongolian trying to box out Ayanna, who dominated the boards and lead the US in scoring, mostly with putbacks. Next up: Russia.
