Secret Scrimmage Scores

My ESPN + shows Unable to play video, I signed up for this to catch all the Big East games, is this normal for streaming?
Got it here. We have Disney+ and that comes with ESPN+ so I just sign in through our TV provider.

Who's out for Kentucky? I still can't believe they spent $22 million on this roster. Who's going to have a worse return on their team investment, the Mets or Kentucky?

In a battle of UConn recruits, Acaden has a nice line, meanwhile Nowell throws up a titanic stinker. 1 dime and 4 TO's while going 1-5 from the field is an egg. Maybe he's just not very good.

Nowell came off the bench in their second exhibition against Fairfield. Played 18 minutes - 4 points (1-3 FG, 2-2 FT), one assist, two turnovers.

Not exactly burning the floor with that assist to TO ratio so far.

Our other transfer out player today in Gtowns win over UK.

I assume you're cancelling the Kentucky national championship parade now based on this exhibition?
Please show me where I said any of this. Lmao. The boneyard will boneyard.

UK looked great beating Purdue. There fans had the right to be excited after watching that. If they want to dream of a natty, let them.

GTown looked good beating UK(albeit down players). There fans have the right to be encouraged.

UConn beating a top 25 team down 2 starters has many fans feeling good about the season.

I’m confused at where the disconnect is.

Why police excitement?

No disconnect, I just think any UK, Georgetown, or UConn fan that's changing any opinion on the season based on an exhibition is dumb. They're just not remotely meaningful beyond coaches experimenting with lineups

Again you’re building a strawman. Who said anyone is changing their opinion on anyone? You tried to take a shot and were misinformed. They’re very meaningful to coaches or they wouldn’t play them. Hurley noted the team not being ready for Maui last season being a big reason why he’s playing these games. To insinuate you can take nothing from watching 2 teams play a competitive basketball game is stupid.

What you watched in the mich state game is WAY more meaningful than anything you’ll see against UNH.

I would not move my view on teams one inch due to exhibitions other than seeing how good some of the top freshmen look. These games are meaningless. Sucks not seeing Mullins.

I wouldn’t frame it as “changing your view” on anyone. It’s literally the only information you have to date. Having a view before seeing anything is way dumber than taking info from an exhibition. I think it’s okay to say UK might be really good. What can you take more from, the Michigan state game or the New Haven game on Monday? Even though one’s an “exhibition” and one counts.

It's absolutely good experience for the players and coaches, I just don't think fans should change their view on the team over a glorified practice. It appears you agree. Michigan State might be more meaningful than anything we'll see against UNH, and that's another game we shouldn't change opinions on the season over

Unless we lose right? Lol. I’m not in disagreement. I don’t think we should do that over any 1 game this season. But the accumulation of information does begin to paint a picture. And I think it’s perfectly ok to add these exhibition results to your information gathered. Had we lost to BC and Mich St there would absolutely be the majority here changing their view on the team. It’s just a little hypocritical.

“I get a kick out of listening to people right now,” Izzo said after No. 4 UConn defeated his No. 22 Spartans 75-69 in an exhibition. “The problem with playing these big games early is, if you don't play as well, everybody kind of panics.”

You can’t over-react to anything, good or bad, that takes place in the preseason, no matter the stage it's on.

“We can say that, but fans and media will definitely over-react,” UConn coach Dan Hurley said. “That’s the only downside to this. Because it does give you a chance to get some jitters out.”

The RuffRuff Alternate Access™:

Does UConn's sloppy preseason win tell us anything about the Huskies? Probably not.

I think there is a conflation being made between taking information from these games, which you all did. I read the post game chat. And overreacting to these games. They aren’t one in the same. Best believed Hurley is drawing information from these games. He said as much in his other quotes.

The difference in one vs the other is the coach is playing to win and to please the computers. You’ll see more authenticity in rotations and sets, and refs not calling a game to avoid injuries. These exhibition games are basically pickup.
