Ehhhh, did she get called for a foul on this? She sure got a lot of hand and arm on that swing.
Out of all the rookies that played she looked the most comfortable. Now its more so her being decisive on when to attack and look for hers. When she’s active on the offensive end something good happened. I think she’s learning that stand still offense that was allowed at Duke won’t cut it in the W. I was impressed. How did Odom look?
Wednesday June 29th. Update: This makes the dumb post award of the week.No axe grinding. But the stats/results/eye test don’t support the descriptions above [“great, “excellent”]. Her debut was rough. Some good, more bad. Not close to the worst ever for a #1 overall pick but not close to the best ever for a #1 overall pick.
Ionescu had trouble in college against athletic & defensive minded teams [Baylor, Louisville, etc.]. She will be facing those types of players/teams regularly now.
History shows that more first round picks fail than succeed. Presuming success isn’t warranted. Ionescu’s success depends on her ability to create space and score in much smaller windows of opportunity. Every player has to make that adjustment.....but her average athleticism makes it a bigger item for her.
Yeah she is no good.Sabrina was a great college basketball player, but I believe her skill set does not translate equally in the pro game. Time will tell.
