Bottom 1st, Kyler Fedko with a one out single and Winkel with a 2 out walk. Gozzo strikes out to end the inning, no score.

Chris Jones says David Langer is the emergency third string catcher this season. He emphasized the word "emergency".

Top second, Simeone is continuing from what he did in the summer season with his third strikeout of the game to lead off the inning (he led the NECBL in strikeouts). Simeone gives up a two out walk, but comes up with a scoreless inning.

Three strikeouts for UConn batters in the bottom of the 2nd. No score.

Infield errors by Hague and Bushling, Cal Poly has runners on the corners with 1 out in the top of the 3rd.

Ground out scores a run for Cal Poly, 1-0 for them with 2 out. Crawford can't keep his foot on the bag for a potential double play. A walk and a single makes it 2-0 with 2 out.

Chris Jones also mentions they are still waiting for a NCAA decision on UConn’s waiver appeal for Casparius’ transfer eligibility.

@dbmill must have went to the bathroom...

Plus I had to go deal with the dog, getting her out of doggie day camp.

Chris Jones just said UConn is still waiting on the waiver for Casparius. Jones not sure if UConn will be able to add a player to the 35 man roster if the waiver is denied.

Haus gets out of the 5th inning with no runs coming in. 2-0 Cal Poly going to the bottom of the 5th.

Simeone had a solid 4 inning stint spoiled by bad fielding in the 3rd.

Bottom 5th, Crawford leads off with a walk, Maycock gets a 1 out single. Inning ends with Crawford picked off 2B to end the potential rally. 2-0 Cal Poly.

I don't watch any college baseball outside of UConn, so this is part question/part commentary. Does every college team run into as many outs as we appear to? I feel like having read the write-ups for years, and in this case seeing it on MLB.com, that we do it all the time. Right, wrong or way off base?

I have season tickets for New York Penn League games in Norwich during the summer. This league has many first year players just out of college. This sort of thing happens often enough in that league. Still, getting picked off 2B by the catcher will make anyone grimace.

I watch a lot of college baseball... it’s a fairly normal occurrence (... and yes, UConn has had their fair share over the years).

Bottom 6th, UConn goes down in order for the fourth time today. 2-0 Cal Poly. Huskies with 2 hits and 2 walks so far this game.

Top 7th, Kenny Haus still on the mound for UConn to start the inning.

Haus with 3 scoreless innings out of the pen today. UConn coming up to bat in the bottom of the 7th.

Top 8th, another infield fielding mishap (Hague gets the error) leads to another run for Cal Poly to make it 3-0. Gozzo throws out a base steeler for the second out, Marrero comes up with his second strikeout of the inning for the third out.
