A walk followed by a squeeze bunt brings in a run to make it 2-1 Vandy, still with 1 out.

A Crawford error puts another runner on base, and a single off the wall brings in 2 runs to make it 4-1 Vandy, with runners at 1B and 2B with one out. Randy Polonia coming in to pitch.

Polonia with a walk, a strikeout, followed by another walk brings in another run to make it 5-1 Vandy. 2 outs and the bases loaded. Another strikeout ends the inning.

Top 7th, Polonia gives up a lead off walk. Will Lucas coming in to pitch. Lucas was billed as a two way player last season, but he never took the mound.

Vandy bullpen takes over from Rocker to start the bottom of the 7th. Gozzo reaches on an error to lead off the inning, freshman Todd Petersen pinch hits for Hague with 2 out and grounds out to end the inning. No doubt Petersen will take over at SS for the top at the 8th.

Let’s be honest. Lucas could not have a worse year pitching than he had last year as an infielder

UConn has a lot of infielders on the roster, with more coming in next season. Lucas to the mound might get him out of the infield logjam for potential playing time elsewhere.

Top 8th, Lucas throws a scoreless inning despite more misplays that inning by the infield.

Bottom 8th, UConn bats remain quiet, going down in order.

Freshman Max Nielsen comes in to pitch the top of the 9th for his Husky debut. Nielsen is from the same high school as Anthony Kay. Quite a few Husky freshmen seem to be on this first road trip of the season.

Game over, 6-1 Vandy. 3 hits, 3 walks for the UConn offense tonight. Uconn defense credited with 4 errors.

Chris Jones says Nick Krauth, Jimmy Wang, and Caleb Wurster only pitchers on the trip who have not pitched so far. Suspect all three will see the mound tomorrow.

With Petersen pinch hitting tonight, a move tomorrow with Hague out of the lineup would not surprise me.
I agree although his throw to first instead of third led to the run on the sac fly. Too many errors and mental mistakes. Hopefully, just freshmen and early season issues.

On another note, I was surprised that Michigan played ASU after beating Cal Poly today. They sure pack in the games on road trips.

One thing I like about Michigans’s online schedule is that they show The Big 10 tournament as well as NCAA regional, super regional and College World Series. UConn doesn’t even list AAC tournament. A team should plan on playing in post-season.

If we keep having more errors than hits it’s going to be a long season. Only the starting pitching has shown up so far

The pitching generally overall has been solid so far. In those first two games it just hasn't been helped by the infield defense at all.

Penders thought Dunlop was really good last night. Something to watch with Dunlop is that he jammed a finger on his pitching hand on a comebacker to the mound, so hopefully he'll be ok for his next start.
