I would like to make an argument for Andre Drummond for the Huskies Of Honir. True, his tenure here was short and while very good for a freshman disappointed some casual fans.
So it would be more based on the number 2 kid in the country staying home and his NBA post graduate studies accomplishments.
I'm all for taking a holistic look at players, but I don't see the case for Andre. You said it yourself- he was here only one year, and more than a few felt it was a disappointment. If he continues making All-Star teams and continues repping the university like he has, then I could see something happen down the line. Seems a little desperate to do it now.

How is Boat a no?? Drummond is 100% a no but Boat won a ship here and is in the top 10 leading scorers at UConn.

Sometimes we need to think out of the box as Calhoun always did with Chris Smith. In his value Calhoun always would bring up the in state kid staying home.
The big thing though, he is the BEST UConn NBA player of this generation and likely will be for several more years.
He returns to campus and by pure coincidence when recruits are visiting. Why not make Dre feel even more at home in Storrs?

What does Jalen have to do this year to be up for future consideration?

If he can average around 18-20 ppg, he'll likely finish the somewhere among the top 6-7 all time scorers in program history, but the success of his teams has obviously been rough the past 2 season.

That would be a slap in the face of everyone else already on the wall.

No one knows what the criteria is at this point, but if it was 1970 he would get in automatically for being a top 10 all-time scorer (see list earlier in thread).

Considering it's 2018 and the amount of postseason success by everyone else on this list and of the program, UConn would have to make at least the Sweet Sixteen this year for Jalen to get consideration by the university in my opinion. 1 NCAA tournament win and winning the AAC once over 4 years isn't going to cut it, his fault or not.

While Burrell's career at UConn may mostly be defined by the pass to Tate George, UConn made the Elite Eight and Sweet Sixteen his sophomore and junior years then you add in success in the NBA.

Jalen has his iconic shot v. Cincy, will be an all-time scorer for the program already locked up more or less, but to get his number up there will require this team to do something special this year (not that I expect it, just the reality of the situation).

Put up those numbers and achieve at least 2 of AAC regular season title/AAC tournament title/Elite Eight or win a national championship. If he goes off and we come up short on those, if this year sparks a resurgence of the program maybe one day he gets in.

At minimum, he would need to lead UConn to national championship #5 to get up on that wall imo

Yep, Worthy Patterson and Vin Yokabaskas are totally more deserving. They are way better basketball players than Ryan Boatright and Andre Drummond.

A sweet 16 and an All-American might do it imo

Agree, this is ridiculous - both Dre and Boat deserve to be on the wall.

Alex O. deserves to be up there before Drummond.

You need to look at the big picture and think strategically. Who is the NBA all star? Who is the #2 HS player who stayed in state?
Who gives back and stays connected to UConn?

Scott Burrell's other accolades probably helped him get put up on that wall, if it was strictly just UConn basketball some of us wonder if he belongs. Drummond only played here 1 season but he's an in-state star and will go down as one of the best rebounders in NBA history if he stays healthy, also doesn't hurt he's probably our most popular player still playing the sport.

100% agree. It’s a no brainer unless you are stuck in the 1950’s mud.

If on-court performance for UConn doesn't count for anything, why bother? Making it just another marketing tool would cheapen the "honor" immeasurably.

What about Hasheem?

Only argument against him is that he only had one truly dominant year, but it led us to a Final Four, and his sophomore year was nothing to sneeze at either.

Then how to you reconcile some of those players who are honored over Hasheem, Boat, Lamb etc.?

There was nothing like Scott Burrell running down an opponent who was sure of an easy layup and reversing play the other way....you could feel the intensity and in awe of his athletic ability. This is a great selection for one of CT's best athletes and a Husky favorite who shut down many opposing players.

I guess we have to understand the criteria that UConn uses that makes one "ring worthy". I personally would only focus on what they did in a Husky uniform, but as others have mentioned it appears that post-college achievements also play a role. I feel that it shouldn't be used as a marketing tool (by having guys like Drummond inducted) because the NBA Huskies are already featured elsewhere, and recruits will definitely be exposed to that. Success as a Husky is what should be celebrated, imho.
