I agree. Stanford is seasoned and plays smart team ball, both offense and defense. They are not a one-weapon team and, being well-coached, they can adjust to what a defense gives them. I can see us hanging with SC and pulling it out but I am afraid that anything but a hot-shooting night from UCONN will not cut it against Stanford.
Well it is b/c if you don't beat the first team ur not getting to the title game so my question was which team would you rather play to get to the championship game

Stanford also has a very good defense..in fact they rank 7th to Uconn's 17th in defensive field goal %...You have Belibi even with Caroline.That's a definite advantage for Stanford..Belibi is a force while Caroline barely plays the problem is Jones plays in the backcourt as much or more than she does the frontcourt b/c she's the facilitator for the offense..also like geno brought up ..how long they are at almost every position
I don't expect the match-ups as I wrote them to be written in stone... They are for comparative purposes only...bottom line there will be a lot of zone played by UConn. However, when you look at averages per game...UConn matches up just fine. If Aliyah defends Hailey sometimes and Caroline defends Hailey sometimes or if it is Nika Muhl whoever it is at the end of the game it is about players playing up to and above their averages. Bueckers averages 14.7 points per game but she went off for 27 last game. Nothing is written in stone...just playing the law of averages. My comment regarding UConn's defense wasn't to imply that Stanford doesn't play good defense they certainly do. And as good as Stanford's defense is they still have to stop UConn's potent offense.

Really? Name five Oregon guards that are comparable to Paige Bueckers, Evina Westbrook, Azzi Fudd, Nika Muhl and Christyn Williams up front? Who does Oregon have at 6ft 2 who can shoot, rebound, pass, can lead a fast break, and cut to the basket like Caroline Ducharme?

It isn't VERY important but it does matter. The reason is that the refs are usually better in the final. For that reason, I would rather play Stanford in the semis. They aren't quite as physical so, if the refs "let them play", it won't hurt us as much. In an ideal world, we would be playing Louisville and then Stanford.
I guess you conveniently forgot that for a large part of the season, due to several injuries, UConn’s only decent 3 point shooter was Caroline Ducharme. Also consider that when UConn lost to Oregon, CW, Bueckers, and Fudd were watching from the sidelines, and Juhasz played hurt in that game. Your comparison of season team percentage 3pt shooting is laughable and gets an F in my book. Again, lucky for Stanford, the injury bug has hit Juhasz again, unfortunately. That said it will be a tough game tonight for both teams, though I’m hopeful that UConn’s perimeter offense and defense will carry the day.
