SC drop to #6 ?

ESPN bracketologist Charlie Creme said Thursday's loss likely would not affect South Carolina's position as a projected No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament. But Creme said Tennessee's win likely elevates the Lady Vols a spot to a No. 3 seed, bumping fellow SEC team Georgia off that seed line.

Dawn's a myth.
It'll all come out in the wash.
They get what they deserve.
The tournament will settle it.
I agree with all of the above. Let the Gamecock fans worry about where their ranked.

Before we get to the NCAA selection show, Charlie will have 6 SEC schools in the top 16 seeds.

Rankings are fun, if largely guesswork, all that counts is March.

There could be a legitimate argument made that SC could drop 4 places to #6 having 3 losses now and behind L'vill..NC State..Standford..and A&M..anyone agree?
I posted on this yesterday, ESPN Charlie still thinks they should be a #1 seed. Beyond me why they have credibility.

The SEC elivated themselves by beathing the top level schools in their conference. Now that might mean they are better than predicted, or it might mean the top level schools ( SC ) are not as good as predicted. Creme and some others seem to feel that the SEC should be rated on well other teams do against SC or TA&M prognosticated pre season ratings. The assumption then being that the leagues is stronger than expected rather than the top teams being weaker.

Now is this same standard being applied to other conferences in respect to how well teams do against their one preseason favorites? Ultimately the teams are all playing against others in their own conference so it will be tricky in respect to how they rank the teams this year. In general the selection committee seems to be using a different standard than Creme., who as mbr33ctt stated, If it were up to Creme he would put the entire SEC into the playoffs.

In respect to the top level teams it does not make much of a difference, but it certainly makes a difference to the middle of the pack in each conference. The ones that got elevated due to their showings against the teams at the top of the conference based on the assumption that those teams are as good as were invisioned at the start of the season. Much of the perception of the strength of SC was based on the evaluation of Bostons play last season and the perception that she would be even better this season. The question remains her play this season a temporary blip or is it something more permanent. Players have been known to peak early. We all can remember Courtney Paris who totally dominated her freshman season but tapered off the rest of her college career.

They will be #3. If they do drop to a 2 seed, expect to see them in our bracket along with Baylor as the three seed. If Stanford wasn't an obvious choice for a 1 seed, our regional would have probably had the four best teams in the country in it.

Wherever SC ends up this week, they certainly don’t look like a #1 seed right now. Opponents have been able to shut down the Gamecocks transition game and their half court offense has been anemic.

Dawn seems to be searching for answers. Unless she finds those answers soon, SC may earn themselves an early ticket home from San Antonio.

But are there 4 other teams that look more like a 1 seed?

Right now, imo, there are at least 7 teams that pass the eye test over SC: UConn, NC St, Louisville, Stanford, A&M, Stanford and MD.
Wow, you're really impressed by Louisville's 0-1 record against the top 20.

I’m just talking about looks here. But if we’re talking about resumes, then NC St, UConn, A&M, Stanford & UCLA all look as good as SC and they pass the eye test.

OK, I have to respond to listing Stanford twice: UCONN, UCONN, UCONN! (that's 1 better)

Agreed. Your last sentence said it all. Rankings and seeds in the tournament mean nothing. What bracket you're placed in (some 1 seeds have an easier draw or path than others) and how prepared you are key. Upsets happen!!
#1 seeds get knocked out of the tournament in games 3 & 4 every year. The winner of the tournament will have to beat at least 2 top 5 teams.

OK, after falling on their faces today vs FSU, Louisville no longer passes the eye test. Also, while going something like 5 for 21, Evans doesn’t look much like a NPOY either.
