Settled in for the next five hours here at the coliseum. Hope to see a couple of good tight games.
 
4:15 left 1st quarter...Iowa leading NC State, 10-9. State defense has shut down Gustafson so far.
 
Iowa on an 8-0 run...Gustafson now with 4 points.
 
Good defensive battle in Greensboro...end of 1 quarter, Iowa leading NC State, 16-11. Gustafson now with 4 points.
 
Getting dangerous in here. Had no idea they were throwing t-shirts into the crowd at this game. Was looking at my phone and got pelted in the head by a shirt thrown by the Wolfpack Mascot. Acc on acc violence :oops:

Timeout NC State...7:37 left 2nd quarter. Tania Davis THREE gives Iowa a 26-14 lead. Elissa Cunane now on the bench with 2 fouls.
 
State just needs to keep this under 10 going into half, they have left a lot of points out there
 
Iowa leads NC State, 37-24, at the half. State having a miserable shooting day.
 
State has gone through stretches where their offense has really struggled, and that's certainly been the case so far.

It feels like State has done a decent job defending Gustafson, but she still has 11 and 7 at the half. But Iowa's supporting cast has been the difference maker.
 
Iowa looks very cohesive with a good mix of outside and inside game. They are definitely playing up to a number 2 seed and Baylor (assuming they win) will have their hands full. I will be very interested to see how she deals with Baylor since this might be a very good indicator of how her game translates to the WNBA.

NC State offense showing signs of life, big buckets by Cunane and Leslie to cut it to 9.

But then Cunane picks up her 3rd foul defending Gustafson. Looks like Wes is leaving her in, rolling the dice.

Iowa has suddenly gone completely ice cold. All the momentum with State.
 
NC State had it down to 5 and had multiple opportunities to cut it to 3 but couldn't make layups.

Iowa is just out-shooting them. Much more efficient at converting their opportunities.
 
End of 3rd quarter...Iowa leading NC State, 56-44. State got within 43-38 before Iowa burst with a 9-2 run.

You knew State was gonna make a run and Iowa withstood it, built the lead back up to 12 at end of 3Q.

State has really gotten their teeth into the O-board pie, but they haven't converted enough of those chances.
 
They've been trading some buckets in the past few minutes, but NC State is gonna need to start getting stops. Wes can sense it and calls TO with about 6 minutes left.
