Sarah Strong is competing at the FIBA 3x3 World Championships next week in Mongolia

FIBA Standings: USA ends up #6. USA had 93 points to Australia's 95 points (#5).
The final FIBA Women's Stats "individual" list has Sarah as # 4 overall in the tournament (fourth of 80).
Sarah tied for #3 in total points (38 points in 5games) three players higher but played 7games. Sarah #2 in PPG at 7.6 ppg (#1 was 9.0 ppg). Sarah #1 in "player value" (see thread #59 above for calculation). Sarah #1 in Shot Efficiency 0.83. Sarah #6 in one-point shot % at 76%. Sarah tied for #2 on two-point % =50 %, one player at 100% = 1/1, and two others also at 50%). Sarah with 91% on free throws, many players with 100%. Sarah tied for 9th on blocked shots with 3. Sarah #2 on total rebounds (39) with top rebounder with 48. But Sarah was #1 on rebounds per game at 7.8. I have yet to see the ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM official announcement. Her ranking of #4 in the list of Women's Stats gives me hope, but the USA team coming in 6th make this seem unlikely. I will check later. WAY TO GO, SARAH!!!

Mongolia deserved to win. They made?? 6 two pointers.??
Morgan Maly with a number of turnovers. Sahara Williams
with an offensive foul and a delay of game penalty. Mikaylah
Williams with a technical foul and (poorly) trying to do it all
herself. THEY DID NOT GET THE BALL TO SARAH UNDERNEATH!
Sarah with multiple rebounds, a blocked shot, and solid scoring.
Mongolia also hit the CLUTCH FREE THROWS. I have yet to check
the official stats.
Mongolia played well out there. Heck, they had zero to lose and a whole to gain. The crowd was electric!! Team USA just did not play smart basketball at all. They lost their composure, as you pointed out the Tech on Mikaylah Williams. That was just silly on her part. Sarah played so-so out there. It was a great game, and it sucks that USA lost but they will learn from this and build on it.

Check out Sarah's stats at: OVERVIEW FIBA 3x3 WORLD CUP 2025 Ulaanbaatar.
Look for "stats" on the left-hand column, click, and on the Stat page go
to WOMEN'S and then go to "Individual". You'll see Sarah listed # 4 out of
80 players and if you look across the many statistical "Analytics" you'll find
Sarah at the top of some and near the top on others. My Favorite is
"P-VAL" (PLAYER VALUE) with Sarah rated at 62.0. This is a composite score that is
calculated as follows: P-VAL (Player Value) = Shot-efficiency (PTS) +
KAS + DRV + DNK + BZR + (REB/2) - TO. There is a legend on the FIBA
web page explaining each item in the calculation. Sarah's 62 rating is
the highest in the tournament (see the entire list of 80 players and scroll
down to confirm). One "unofficial" source that I found had
Sarah as "on the OFFICAL Women's All-TOURNAMENT TEAM" but the
truly "official" FIBA web page has not reported that. You can check that in the
future. Go to the same HOME page that is listed above and scroll down
to AWARDS... near the bottom of that right hand column. Regardless, I'm sure we will get some "official" announcement out of Storrs if this is truly a "fact".
GO UCONN, GO SARAH! Z

The Primary determining Stat for this list is TOTAL POINTS. The
#1 player for total points is from Mongolia with 44 points. The #3 player is
from Poland with 42 POINTS. BUT .... those TOP THREE played SEVEN
GAMES and Sarah played only 5. So... Who is your # 1 and your MVP???

I'll be honest - I posted way earlier after watching the very first game (Sarah did not play well) wondering how the team would do. And after that Sarah pretty much took off.

She did not shoot the 3 well (22%), but was awesome everywhere else. I was MOST impressed at how "strong" she was in the post. She was incredible at using her body to push the defender back while not lowering her shoulder to commit a foul, and score easily almost every time while getting mauled (I mean fouled) which seemed to never be called.

Great overall experience for her - I expect she will eventually be a mainstay on the 5x5 Team USA, but for now, she gets to travel, play fun games with other really good players, and get a different kind of experience.

Can you imagine Sarah with a sophomore leap? OMG. She's on my shortlist for NPOY.

Wondering if this event had any impact on recruiting.

I didn’t think team USA was very good. Sarah was great but her teammates didn’t seem to want to or be able to play with her to best advantage. Morgan and Sahara in particular were liabilities. Mikayla was capable of scoring pretty effectively but not much else.
I blame the coaches.

I blame the coaches.
I blame the timing and selection "committee." No WNBA break...

Even though Paige needs some time off to reheal her sore knee, Paige would be amazing with Azzi, Sarah, and Caitlyn Clark (who is also on the mend). With UConn players, one only needs one name...

Go USA! Go Huskies (+ one)!!!

With the WNBA all-star game coming up with Collier and Clark as captains, I was wondering. Which would be more fun to watch, Paige playing with Clark or against her. I would love to see them playing together, that could be very entertaining for sure.

Agree. Sahara can’t shoot and is quite undersized for her game.

Sarah being the only post player was a problem. I was confused how Maly made it over the more experienced Cierra Burdick.
Watched the US/Netherlands game last night. Have to agree with other posters who viewed the US team's talent (other than Sarah) as mediocre at best. Sarah was unguard able but rarely got the ball, particularly down low where she scored most of her points. US team's ability to shot from outside was almost nonexistent. Ball handling not at D1 US college level. Would guess that without Sarah, the lack of talent on the US team would have barely enabled them to finish in the top 50% of teams.
