It has been a pleasure to watch the young man develop. You can tell he works hard and listens to his coaches. Another improvement or adjustment he can make, and it's a relatively easy one, is understanding if he's too far from the hoop, he can pass it back out and reset. His passing is starting to come around. The guys seem to be moving better after the ball is dumped down to him. Now, he just needs to understand that it doesn't have to be 'go time' the first time he touches the ball.

He’s ahead of you. Think you’re describing things he’s already made good progress on during this season. He rarely tries that hook from 8 foot out anymore, and has gotten better at passing out when doubled.

Next step is face the basket shooting from other spots in the court and eventually treys. We can dream, no?

This kid gets better game to game. I don’t think it’s a dream.
Yeah all anyone says about him is that he's a maniacal worker. The proof has been in the pudding... from fresh to soph improvement to his rebounding and passing improvements within this season.

Yeah, it's:
1) passing and re-posting
2) getting comfortable on the pick and pop or otherwise being a threat to shoot from the foul line and beyond

.-.
Like others have said

1) passing out of double-teams
2) cutting the travels by 1/3.
3) shot selection far from hoop

If he can develop a little bit of a 3 poi t shot over the summer like Whaley did it would really take his game to the next level. Enough to shoot 30-33% from deep on 1 or 2 attempts per game. Just enough to keep teams honest. It shouldn't ever be a big part of his game.

He can get better in the post, but he's reaching the point where any changes will be incremental.

For his NBA prospects, he's going to have to continue working on defending in space.

He needs a medium range jump shot and hit it with a very good rate of consistency to play at the next level. Thats what he needs to work as well as learning to guard outside the lane avoid getting beat with an opponents fist quick step. I feel he will be working on these during the upcoming off season. If he masters those two things - watch out

He's cashing in his chips and going.some folks here said he's not ready,no outside shot ,too slow, not big enough. He's got size speed and quickness enough.Hes not coming back to work on his outside shooting.I don't think that's what hurley would want from him,he won't get that here.next stop is end of bench or g league where he can work on his game

He needs to establish position better. Part of the reason we struggle to pass him the ball is all the hands he allows to deflect the passes. Part of the problem is being 6’8. But we’re all nitpicking here.

I don't think the outside shot is just a dream. UConn has had guys develop the outside shot. Donny Marshall did it. Anybody who remembers Donny Marshall as a freshmen or sophomore would not want him ever attempting a 3. As a senior it became a real weapon for him as a spot up, complimentary shooter.

A 6`8 big with no offensive game outside of 5 feet, average athleticsm, not an elite defender, rebounder or shotblocker and cant guard on the perimeter? I dont mind if he leaves but he`ll be lucky to get drafted in the first round.

Sure... And how can you deny that he was perhaps mediocre compared to his recent past performances?

His passing has gotten way better, he still picks up too many dumb fouls early and still turns it over too much.

I bet that Sanogo has touch on jump shots. It hasn’t become part of his game yet but we’ll see it next year, pretty sure.

Think the obvious next step, college career wise, is to learn not to commit dumb fouls.

NBA wise, he absolutely needs a mid range or 3 point shot, but that won’t come around for a while if ever. Unfortunately, at his height, it may be hard for him to succeed in the NBA without one.

Saw it before he ever stepped on the court. Remember the weight loss pictures? He lost something like 30-40 pounds between HS and starting freshman year. This is why I say he can play in the NBA, because I don't doubt that he can add a face up game and the ability to attack off the bounce (he's not bad at that now).

Adama has improved tremendously from last year. Keep in mind--He's relatively new to the game.. Only been playing since age 15

An area that he needs to improve on is his BB IQ. There are times where restraint/passing the ball/not using your hands on D/fouling at three point line come at critical parts of the game. Once he figures that out so that he can stay in the game longer- to do his thing -the better.

Need him on the floor in the first half of our games in BET/Big Dance to reach our potential.

Is anyone concerned that he gets in foul trouble so often in a league that allows a lot of banging by the refs in the NCAA where refs from the fluffy ACC or some other “ finesse“ conference won’t?

No, he averages 2.9 fouls per game in 28 minutes. The games he's been in foul trouble are the exception, not the norm

Per 40 he's averaging 4.1 fouls.

Whaley 3.9
Martin 2.7
Andre 3.4
Cole 3.0
Polley 2.7
Gaffney: 4.4
Hawkins 2.8

Gaffney I'm not too worried about because he plays so few minutes at this point. But I think BOTH of our frontcourt players have some fouling issues we need to sort out. Also consider his fouls vs our ranked opponents

Nova: 4
Xavier: 4
Marquette: 2
Nova: 4
Hall: 3
Auburn: 4 (in huge minutes of course)

So vs ranked opponents he's averaging 3.5 fouls. In 4/6 games he had 4 fouls. He was basically in foul trouble every game but Marquette. Not good, and definitely the norm, not the exception at this point. At least vs our best opponents.

When he get's into foul trouble it stands out because he does such a good job of staying out of foul trouble. He does need to work on not fouling so far from the basket, but that's nitpicking on him

Yeah I have a very different takeaway from those stats. 4.1 fouls per 40 minutes is not concerning to me. Even in the games you listed against ranked opponents where he supposedly had a lot of fouls he played 37 minutes against Auburn, 35 against Marquette, 32 against Seton Hall, 33 against Villanova (2nd time). So I'd say that yes it is the exception that he's in foul trouble to the point his minutes are getting cut into, really only happend with Xavier and Nova.

And against those same Xavier and Seton Hall teams he struggled with the first time he played 39 and 34 minutes with 1 foul the second time

Sanogo's next step is a midrange jumper and better court vision for his passing

Agreed - especially when you see him at the free throw line.
