UConn picks up a run without a hit in the first inning, from a combination of walks and hit by pitches. UConn also stole two bases (Ferriter and Mazzilli) that inning. Ferriter also got picked off second base to continue that trend.

Actually, UConn fielding is much better than last year. They also don't seem to compound the fielding mistakes that they do make like they did last year. However, in the 45 years I have followed baseball, I have never seen or heard any team getting as many runners picked off as these guys do.

Yes, totally agree about the fielding. It has been so much better than last year and surprising with 2 Freshmen starting in the infield.

They are extremely aggressive and are one of the countries leaders in steals, but i agree they do get picked off often. I think the positives out weigh the negatives but it does get frustrating.

The offense has been scary. Horrendous team effort by the offense, and we are very lucky that SHSU shot themselves in the foot, then the chest, in the early going.
