The long road and the drive to get better, Meriden Record Journal (Feb. 3)

Sounds like another great kid with a great work ethic.

Great stuff - thanks, Nan!

Among other battles, it would be really interesting to watch Sadie battle Kia Nurse next year in 5x5 practice. We're getting a bunch of incredibly driven and focused players. So psyched about this class.

Many seem to be worried about the lack of "big" recruits. May be dating myself, but one year, UCLA (John Wooden) didn't have a player over 6'5". He won the NC by adapting a style of play to fit his players. Full court zone presses, man to man presses, frequent substitutions, etc. Wore the opposing teams dizzy. And with the 10 second back court violation rule, OMG. Don't want to be a guard on an opposing team. Will be lots of fun.

Hadn't seen this before so thanks for posting.
Taking nothing away from her, but generally the reporters writing about Uconn signees could just write one article, then change the names and the junior and senior stats, and publish same story about each recruit Geno signs. Same quotes from the player, their coach, and their teammates. If you put together 10 years of these stories blacking out the names and schools, you would have a hard time matching the signee to the story.

Just wondering why you feel it was important to post this?

Sorry - wasn't meant in any way derogatorily - just that Uconn recruits great team players and great people with great work ethics, so as you read these stories the characteristics of the players and the way their coaches and teammates see them is eerily similar. I meant it as a complement. The story of Nurse and Ekmark and Williams and Edwards are very different, their skills are different, but their qualities as players and people are very similar.
It also is the reason that looking at teams decades apart the play remains very recognizable - the bodies inside the jersey change, their individual skills change but the team continues to be at or near the top in team oriented stats like assists, assist/TO, and team defense and percentage defense year after year. They may have better or worse three point shooters or post players, but because of the quality of players signed they always play well as a team.
