I'm not convinced there are - I've gotten the vague impression in t e past that there's a lot of politics involved.

I am sure there are politics involved. The fact that she played for the coach of team USA also may have hurt her chances. While it could have been a positive for her if she was willing to share her insights on his coaching strategies, maybe she was unwilling to do so and it cost her. I doubt we will ever really know.

As always, mostly politics. The Russian players always held it against Sveta for playing college ball in the States & the hype that she received while they stayed home & played in 'Mother Russia.'
