The W is running out of cities to vacate.

Miami, Orlando, Charlotte, Cleveland, Houston, salt lake, Sacramento, Detroit, Tulsa, and now San Antonio.

Hopefully they're looking at Bay Area, Nashville, Knoxville, Denver.

I sure hope it's not the Bay Area, how are those women going to live there on the average WNBA salary?

I wonder how they would do somewhere like St. Louis? No pro basketball there, but pretty good high school basketball!

WNBA players are not poor.
Yes their salaries are minuscule compared to male athletes, but rookies get at least 40k for 6 months of work. That's not bad for a 22 year old.

Bridgeport. I think there's enough fans in CT to support 2 teams. Southern CT has more population. I rarely get to Mohegan, but I would buy season tix for Btidgrport

Don't forget their overseas earnings. Presumably they will live better than those who don't earn their WNBA income.

Would love for them to go back to Charlotte.... different ownership group of the Hornets now. I know Kansas City was possibly looking as a possible home in case the Sting relocated. Not many choices out there...... I guess the Warriors owners might be interested.

The cost of housing in the Bay Area is the same no matter if your 22 or 82. $40K would qualify for lower income in San Fran.

I am not shocked. I'm not even particularly surprised. I am sad. I will really miss having a team in nearby San Antonio. I have no interest in the city of Dallas. I could see the franchise putting less and less effort into the fan experience the last few years. Attendance tanked when Becky Hammond retired, the team started losing big time again, and the same summer the team was in a temporary location. Attendance did not recover when the games moved back to the Spurs arena. of course the team was still losing and had no Stars or fan favorite players. Then came the weird one year contract for Vickie Johnson and the hiring of Ruth Riley. Those were not the moves of a franchise with much investment.

Maybe the Mohegan Sun business model - the WNBA team is just a marketing expense for a casino. ??

Yep... and they can draft players out of UNLV or Nevada-Reno :p

We'd love to have them in Columbia; when Dallas played at Atlanta this summer, there were as many Gamecock fans there to see Allisha and Kaela as there were Atlanta fans to see the Dream.

On $40K in SF you live in a sleeping bag on the street.

I said 40k for SIX MONTHS. They all could go abroad and total north of 100k for the year.

No one said they needed to live in SF city. Or that the team would even be located there. The Bay Area is large.
I recall no such concern for Liberty players when their home was MSG.

And they are in their 20s, they easily could get roommates .

WNBA players are not poor.
