Great news. Ryan Griffin just made the Houston Texan's 53 man roster after having a record breaking pre-season. He set the Texan's pre-season record for receptions and yardage for any receiver---rookie or veteran!! His play on special teams also gave him the versatility so important in today's NFL where you have to be multi-talented to stand out. Like on Broadway, you almost have to be a great singer, actor and dancer to see the stage.
For those who missed his last pre-season game vs the Cowboys, it will be rerun on NFL network tomorrow at 4pm. He had 5 catches and lots of yardage. His first regular season game is on Monday night Sept 9th in the late Espn game. The Texans play at San Diego where he'll be facing long time friend and fellow Husky Kendall Reyes of the Chargers. Incidently, they are the only two NFL players from New Hampshire and both Granite Staters will be playing against each other in what is quite a cool story for all of New England.
Finally, for those of you so inclined you may want to tune into the Clemson-Georgia game tonight on Espn. Seems that Ryan and best buddy and fellow Texan rookie DeAndre Hopkins (a Clemson alum) will be at the game on the Tiger's sideline. Look for the good looking kid with the UConn smile!

Awesome for Ryan. First job out of college, $440k/year. My first job out of college was $4.00/hr working for an architectural firm in NYC!

good for them!

I wrote him into my draft board last night... laughed at the the guys when they said "who???"

Congratulations to Ryan on making the Texans! I watched three of the four pre-season games, and UCONN west (Ryan, Trevardo and Michael Smith) is a now my second favorite team--after the NY Giants, of course. Impressed with Ryan's blocking, receiving--I think Ryan's missed one pass out of all thrown his way this preseason. Good going, young man. (Missing him on UCONN's offense, but that's another post....)

Looking forward to seeing Ryan play on Sundays--go Texans!

Remember all the mother , "but Edsall left the cupboard bare" arguments?

Such a silly thing to say. Like since Smallwood will be in the NFL we should have shut Towson down no matter how poorly everyone else played.

Congrats to Ryan not just for making the team but for excelling. Looking forward to seeing your highlight plays.

Wahoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Another pup in the bigs!

It couldn't have happened to a better kid. Congratulations to Ryan and family. It's great UCFB news like this that will have to sustain the fanbase for now.

Congrats to the biggest smile on the Huskie Walk....Fan friendly player and family...Wishing nothing but the best of luck....

It's been a foregone conclusion for a while that he would make the 53 man roster but still a nice thing to have official confirmation. The real exciting year should be next year when Griffin could push for the number two spot and big playing time and Trevardo is active and has had a year to develop. Both showed tremendous flashes of their potential this pre-season.

Couldn't agree more, great kid from good family. Recruited and Coached by Foley. Foley recruited a few New England/PA guys up to NFL level.

Congrats to Ryan and the Griffin family! Will the Carona bottle flag now fly outside Reliant stadium!?!?

Will Mr. Griffin ever sit in his seats or find another red line to stand in front of?
