The way I see it is that we're "new money". UConn, more than any other school discussed/rumored, has to prove itself as being a football program that can build on its success and make money. UConn really needed a bowl season in the past two years after its first ever BCS appearance to show the "old money" schools that we're a penny stock ready to explode. Struggling with MAC teams and declining attendance does nothing to improve our chances.
Plus, the crux of my statement is about this year's realignment wave (the one we're currently in). I wasn't talking about the Pitt/Cuse to the ACC year. I'm talking about why we, right now, aren't on the B1G's list or invited to the ACC until somebody (read: Maryland & maybe someone else) leaves first.
