All the Great Lake stuff sounds great, but I don't go in to water below 74 degrees. That is just insane.

Coldest summertime swim/dive was 56 degrees in Lake Superior. Most of the interior lakes are pretty warm, upwards of 70 degrees.

Welcome to Michigan!

From 2002 through 2010, I was in Michigan for work at least 4 times a year and I covered Michigan from St. Joe's (speaking of great beaches) where I worked with Whirlpool to the epitome of a company town - Midland, aka Dow Town, to downtown Detroit to visit GM in the RenCen. I learned about the Jobbie Nooner, tornado sirens in East Lansing, not to wear anything resembling Ohio St colors in Ann Arbor, taking the Tunnel/Drunk bus back from Windsor to Detroit in Friday night's with the under 21 crowd, free parking at Detroit Tiger games by parking at the Greektown Casino playing one had of blackjack for $5 after the game to get my free parking pass validated, etc.

Warmer near the Cook nuclear plant south of St. Joe. (kidding)

BTW, the Rutgers guys are talking about you talking about them. I'll hang up now and listen. ;)

Well, then this is a good time to remind them that they're an athletic punch line.

We created a football program overnight and basically made up their century-head start immediately. What were we - like 6-6 against them since we moved up?

Of course, we won two of the last three, so there's that.

As for the rest of their athletic department, I guess they're good at cashing checks, losing games and generating WTF headlines.

What's amusing is they think their football program got them into the B1G (Il Lusciato: "They don't understand that its football. That's why we are here, and they never will be."). What conference has ever thought to themselves, we have to have Rutgers football?

I have run across some RU fans who acknowledge their extreme good fortune. As for those that think the B1G invitation had anything to do with RU athletics, well, some folks just can't be helped.

Two football facts did help Rutgers get into the B1G. First, their stadium is 40 miles from Times Square. Second, the quality of high school football in New Jersey is very, very good

Wow you guys really must have done a number on the OP. He ran home and cried to the whole crazy family. Pretty funny thread all things considered. I especially enjoyed the one guy trying to talk sense to the rest of the board. It would have been easier to teach a monkey calculus than convince the group that Rutgers wasn't an athletic colossus worthy of inclusion in a P5 League over UCONN. Some of these clowns will literally s*** themselves if you are ever invited to the B1G, as they will be even further exposed in all sports by your "inferior" program.

This is true. So RU beat out Fordham which is closer to Manhattan and the B1G couldn't wait for Monmouth to make the jump.
