RU is a much better scoring team than usual, with three players in the starting line-up (Copper, Scaife, Laney) all capable of scoring 20+. That being said, the defense, while still very good, is not exceptional, and the team's two defensive cogs are either hurting (center Hollivay) or injured and will not play (senior guard Syessence Davis, the Big 10's defensive player of the year, ranked 4th nationally in steals this year). The team also is not a huge threat from outside, though they had their most 3-pointers of the season (7) against SHU on Saturday night.
I wouldn't necessarily call the B10 "soft"--though both MD and RU have added toughness that wasn't previously there. There are a lot of scoring teams in the B10, and Ohio State should be very good for years to come with their freshmen.
