According to ESPN Rutgers has fired head coach Coquese Washington...a very poor
record under her leadership.

Many moons ago Rutgers seriously looked at our very own CD but then hired their main target...
Vivienne Stringer. CD actually withdrew her name from consideration when it began to interfere
with her UConn recruiting duties.

So...might Rutgers look again at CD? [She of course is a graduate of that school].
If they chose to pursue her would CD consider it?

My hope is that they DO consider her....and that she turns them down and remains the very best
at her current position.and because she simply enjoys it too much.

Just hypothetically, why would any AD in the B1G consider a 67yo (for next season), with only a handful of head coaching games experience, for their program? Would they do it for any other sport, mens or womens?

Pretty sure she's happy where she is, and doesn't need any headaches going forward. We're very lucky to have her.

An article suggests a few of the names they might pursue"

Carla Berube [Princeton]
Bozzella [Seton Hall]
Kresge [Vermont]
Griffith [Columbia]
Redus [asst. coach at LSU]

Several others....mostly current head coaches.

Uhh...no CD.

And why would a 67 yr old want that job? it's not merely coaching basketball. It's rebuilding an entire culture, and the first few years will be awful.

To the CD point - in 1995 when Grentz left, CD was an option for Rutgers to consider. Folks then in the hierarchy at Rutgers knew her, former golf coach and AD Fred Gruninger among them. Many long-time fans would have much preferred her to Stringer, heck, much of the RU fanbase of the day probably never heard of C. Vivian Stringer. At a Rutgers / UConn game she came up into the stands and was much lionized by the RU folks there in Gampel. And was still at times in the NJ area - my wife and I saw her shopping in the grocery store in East Brunswick.

Now - there is no reason for Rutgers to be interested. She is nearing the end of her career as one of the great Assistant Coaches of all time in arguably the greatest program ever. Rutgers needs someone (somewhat) young to take a long rebuilding job with what I suspect will be dubious resources. Of the list above - not all of whom I know much about - anyone but Bozzella would be an improvement.

She had taken Cheyney to the finals in 1982 and Iowa to the F4 in 1993, and had 500 wins (probably 1 of just 3 at that point). She was an elite in the coaching ranks.

I’m pretty sure Rutgers would love to have CD come and be their coach for whatever length of time she wanted! They’re not asking because they know it would never happen. CD could have had basically any head coaching job she wanted for 30+ years. I think it’s pretty clear to everyone that she made her choice and is happy with it. I know UConn fans, players, and Geno himself are all very happy with that choice as well! Her partnership with Geno has resulted in something magical that will likely never be equaled!

I'd like CD to stay one year past Geno's retirement. To help with transition. This, of course, if the next HC would go for it.

I could see the new HC at UConn, assuming it’s not a current Assistant Coach, keeping one or more of Geno’s assistants on their staff. But I think it would be more likely that the assistant(s) they kept would be either Jamelle, Tanya or Morgan, who are all younger than CD and presumably not ready for retirement.

Depending on who it is, and when it will happen, maybe some of the staff would be retained, but I suspect a clean slate might be a better start. It's all totally dependent on who and when. Those 3 assistants are all very highly regarded, but might consider moving elsewhere too.
