RU just scored ten points - not in the quarter, but in the half.

What happened?

Purdue's bench player Farquhar has 8 points, more than all of the RU starters combined. The top scorer spot among RU starters is a three way tie - each with 2 points.

25-10. Sounds like an exhilarating game.

Meanwhile, South Florida is clobbering Temple on the road. Temple is ranked in the mid 100's by Sagarin and that looks to be fair.

RU added 6 more pts. Now in the 3Q and they have 16 pts total.
What a joke ...

RU's rating may have gone to their head.

But they are making progress: 4 point in Q1, 6 points in Q2, and 10 points of far in Q3. They trail by only 30-20. Did these teams move into the SEC?? :D

Rutgers shot 5% from 3 pt range (1/20), 26.8% overall, and 50% from the free throw line. Turnovers were even, with each team committing 20. But Rutgers committed 20 fouls to 6 for Purdue. Probably a really ugly game.

Exactly. This kind of thing is a long standing hallmark of C Viv coached teams. Solid defense and questionable, sputtering offense.
The more things change.... Is anyone really up for a renewed home and home with her teams?

I didn't get to see any of today's game, but I did see Purdue give Rutgers a tough game just two weeks ago at Rutgers. I thought then that Purdue was a bad matchup for Rutgers and looked better than their record would indicate. I also thought that the return game at Purdue, coming so soon after the first game, was going to be difficult for Rutgers. They also seemed due for a down game after a long (by everyone else's standards) winning streak that included a few narrow escapes.

Here's a formula for losing:

Shoot 26.8% overall (15-56).

Shoot 5% from the arc (1-20).

Shoot 50% on FTs (2-4).

Turn the ball over 20 times.

Commit 20 fouls to your opponent's 6.

Have 8 players combine to shoot 3-28.

Anyone that paid to see that game should get a refund. Something must have happened. That was an embarrassing effort by Rutgers. A quick look at their schedule shows they were playing some decent basketball, and beating some good teams.

Ae'Rianna Harris scored 13 points and Purdue held Rutgers to 10 points in the first half en route to a 47-33 win on Wednesday night that ended the No. 21 Scarlet Knights' 11-game winning streak. OMG, RU is ranked!?!

There's no need to scandalize over a single game. Rutgers has had a fine season thus far, putting last year's debacle season in the past. They just had a nightmare game on offense where nothing fell. How quickly people forget that even the offensive juggernaut that was the 2010 UConn team suffered through a 12-point half in the national championship game. It happens to the best of 'em. Sometimes shots don't fall.

Rutgers' offense has been heavily dependent on Tyler Scaife's shotmaking ability, and she has been remarkably prolific and consistent. On the few occasions where she's been less prolific, others have stepped up to produce buckets — until tonight, that is. Scaife finished with 9 points, surely a season low for her. But her teammates were only 11 of 41.

My Boilermakers beat Rutgers!!!!
Any thoughts on what's happened out there in Indiana? Purdue used to be ranked year in and year out but has fallen on tough times. Was it the coaching carousel from years ago?

Put me in the No total Jordy. The only thing they have going for them is the away game proximity.

Some of it is that Carolyn got to Purdue as an assistant at the right time and some of it is that the coaches after her didn't recruit the local talent as hard as they should have. If I remember correctly a couple decommitted from Purdue after it was known that she was going to leave to be the Head Coach and GM of the Orlando Miracle after the 98-99 season at Purdue. She is probably one of the nicest WBB coaches that I ever met and has one heck of a Southern drawl. If I remember correctly she is the youngest coach to earn the NC and Purdue is the only Big 10 school WBB to win one. Maryland was a member of the ACC win they won theirs.
