Doesn't matter. Still always like to see the h uskies ranked in top 25 just to see Connecticut showing up.

It does matter in terms of coverage in the media. We want UConn to be in the top 25 all season. Media coverage, ranking, influence
which games are shown on which channel. Highlights on ESPN are important. We need to have the UConn name out before the public
the entire year.

Unfortunately, we are still on the outs as far as Power Five conferences are concerned. We need every bit of good publicity we can get
over what is probably going to five years. Not being in the top 25 hurts the brand; it may be stupid, but that is the case. I'm not sure what it is going to take to get a seat at the table, but every little bit could be significant.

I have yet to see anything resembling a foolproof plan for gaining acceptance in a power five conference. Until that day, I consider everything to be of some significance in our quest.

eh, rather start out this way, then being picked to repeat.. makes us more hungry..

Being ranked in the AP and Coaches polls matters for coverage, not Jon Rothsteins poll. They will be ranked in both, as they are in every other publication.

.-.
I don't know why people have to say "don't obsess over these rankings" or "who cares where we're ranked, we still won national championships", because I don't think anyone is obsessing, BUT it is very interesting to take note of rankings like this. Saying a team is disrespected is one of the most used phrases in sports, but I think UCONN basketball is one of the most disrespected programs in all of sports. Like Cowherd, Billas and others have said UCONN is the most dominant basketball program of the last 15 years, and we are still left out of the top 25 for next year, with the possibility of Boatright and Daniels returning. Why / How does that happen? Why are we not spoke on the same level as Duke, Kentucky, etc? Again NOT obsessing about rankings, but it just does go with the general theme that UCONN is overlooked and consistently underrated. Doesn't matter much to me as a fan, I'm just happy we're winning, but it could matter to recruits (I know we've done fine with recruiting but just saying) and attracting a top coach if Ollie did win. Just blatantly wrong and ignorant to not include us top 25 next year.

exactly. As long as we have a shot at the AP 25 we are good. I realized that ESPN doesn't bother to put you up in the espn.com main NCAAM Scoreboard if you are not in the AP top 25. and they'll probably relegate our games to ESPN2 when that happens
