Not sure if anyone caught Rip as a guest analyst on CBS Sports. Essentially, he says Kemba is nice but Kyrie is special. Hopefully, the Rip on Kemba commentary rolls first.Lakers' JaVale McGee faking an injury to get a wide-open dunk is the best play of the NBA preseason

Awesome! Ill still take Kemba. Kemba is a leader. Kyrie is a frontrunner.

Ridiculous, put Kemba with peak Lebron for 3 seasons and they have 1 title and 3 finals appearances. Kyrie made the playoffs ZERO times while on Cavs without Lebron.

Kemba is a really good pro with a upside to be very special
Kyrie is a very special player with a downside being his attitude and ego

based on vorp the two best players kemba ever played with on a per season based we’re Marvin Williams and josh mcroberts.

that’s impossibly bad supporting casts.

the overrating of kyrie is incredible.

Yeah should have worded it better. Top 5 PG all time maybe? Idk

All time? Really? He’s already behind Paul and Russ just in his own era. If you add in Harden for how much time he plays pg i you...he’s now really behind the chances of that happening.

You forgot Curry. I also give Lillard the nod.

Jesus, I was talking about in the context of IF he had kemba's head.

And it was an exaggeration to emphasize how great kemba is mentally.

Kyrie 's not top10 in history imo.

And don't forget Oscar, cousy, Isaiah, Nash, and guys like that.

My god, Kyrie is nowhere CLOSE to a top 50 (five-oh) pg in the history of the NBA. Top 5?!?! Just stop. Spud Webb did more with less.

2011-12- rookie season

Kyrie 2.1 VORP. No other player had a VORP above 0.8 and only 4 players other than Kyrie had a VORP over 0.0 with one being 0.1. The entire team (minus Kyrie) had a combined VORP of -1.9

Kemba led team with 0.3 VORP. One other player had a positive VORP.
The entire team (minus Kemba) had a combined VORP of -7.3.

2012-13

Kyrie VORP 2.8. No other player over 1.5 and only 2 over/at 1.0 VORP. 5 other players had a positive VORP maxing out at 0.3. The entire team (minus Kyrie) had a combined VORP of +0.9.

Kemba had a 2.5 VORP. Two players with positive VORP maxing out at 0.4. The entire team (minus Kemba) had a combined VORP of -4.8.

2013-14

Kyrie 3.3 VORP. One other player over 1 with a 2.1 VORP. Four other players with positive VORP. The entire team (minus Kyrie) had a combined VORP of +1.9.

Kemba was 3rd on the team with a 2.4 VORP. Mcroberts led team with 2.9 and Al Jefferson had a 2.5. Seven other players had a positive VORP maxing out at 0.8. The entire team (minus Kemba) had a combined VORP of +6.6.

So over their first 3 years Kyrie had 8.2 VORP while his teammates over that stretch had a +0.9 VORP.

Meanwhile Kemba had 5.2 VORP while his teammates over that stretch had a -5.5
VORP.

I'm not a Kyrie fan and a huge Kemba fan but it's indisputable Kyrie had a better first 3 years and career thus far. And its not like Kyrie had a great supporting cast during his first 3 years (prior to Lebron) even though he had a better cast over that span than Kemba but Kemba had the best team/supporting cast than any team Kyrie had during that 3 year span in 2013-14.

The hate people on this board give Kyrie is because they are Boston fans and adore Kemba

I was mostly referring to how people use Kemba team failures against him.

Kyrie is still vastly overrated too.

Kemba took too long to develop his shot. Kinda ties into what draymond said the other day. Had Kemba ended up in, say...SA (with the best shooting coach on the planet) he gets that shot faster and is a monster much faster.

Look, Kyrie blasted his way out of Cleveland and Boston leaving ruins in his wake. If he fails in NJ it will be a very costly 3rd strike. Kemba has never had an NBA chance like he does now. It is going to be fun to watch both try to succeed.
Kemba IS a leader and a legend for leading a team to an NCAA title. Kryie is an unproven leader, yet a legend for winning an NBA championship & hitting the biggest shot in an NBA finals. Kyrie has an unbelievable handle and an Earl Kelley-esque creativity in finishing at the rim, one 2nd team all-NBA and one third team. Kemba has steadily improved throughout his NBA career making 3rd team all NBA. Their overall basketball legacies remain to be written.

It's a ridiculous argument. Kyrie has more talent. He's mostly been a great player. But he hasn't really been a winner and doesn't necessarily make the guys around him better. This isn't new in sports. Kemba was not the player his first few seasons that he is now.

Let's see what Kemba does on a good team. Let's see what Kyrie does in Brooklyn.

This argument will be settled by next May. The Celtics already look like a much better team minus Kyrie and Al Horford. If that holds especially come the playoffs, Kemba will be looked at in a much better light.

He’s rarely been a great player. Brad got a lot out of him. Curious if Brooklyn will do so as well.
