Rip Hamilton's Kid Commits to Oakland

Hearing things like this makes me feel so old, I had a few classes with ricky and rip now they have kids in college. Damn time flies
I had a comunications class (yes, I know, but I was business major, math minor so like 1 of 2 electives) with Scott Burrell and we'd both come in ready for practice so tended to sit close. This class day 1 asked "Can a rock communicate" I think we looked at each other and smiled that this would not be rigorous.

Thats not old at all. Try talking about your girlfriend being roommates with Dennis
Longs sister, and he was best friends with Randy LaVigne who was on the ECAC champs team in ‘77-78. All at the same time, that’s old!

.-.
Ricky's kid looks just like him but he's 6'7. I wonder if we'll get involved, he's a player.
Any insight into Ricky’s relationship with the university? I was under the impression that Ricky was not happy with the way his firing went down. And we all know that he struggled mightily to get hired by another college basketball program.

I just saw the photo of RJ Moore, Ricky's son. He really does look like Ricky. He is #25 in this list for anyone else that wants to see:

If Hurley gets involved, wouldn't that mean UConn and Ricky Moore would have to repair their relationship from the Kevin Ollie fallout?

I am genuinely asking you or anyone else here on the BoneYard because I don't remember the magnitude of the fallout between UConn and Kevin Ollie and if it created harsh feelings to his coaching staff.

Not surprised that Dennis and Randy were best friends as they both played both baseball and basketball at UConn. That rarely happens anymore. The UConn baseball team reached the College World Series in 1979 which was the last time. Randy used to kick my butt in all sports growing up in Hartford’s Southend.

Did you go to Conard? Isn’t that where Randy was from, the CCIL back in the day?

No Randy and I went to South Catholic. He was on the 1974 state championship basketball team that beat Naugatuck.
My dad was class of '74 at South...he did not make the team though, I think it still haunts him till this day. But he loves to talk about that team.

I too (having grown up in Wethersfield) have been on the losing end of several Randy CYO basketball games as well as Courant League (?) hard ball games. Thankfully Randy did not play hockey which was my wheelhouse.

Randy goes to men's games with his wife, sitting near me. A great guy.
I played some fast pitch softball with him after his baseball career ended. When our team manager told me he had recruited a pretty good player and I saw who it was, I freaked. What a thrill to play alongside him.
