RIP Brian Wilson

The genius word gets thrown around too much these days but Brian Wilson was a musical genius. There's probably not too many of us but I prefer The Beach Boys to The Beatles.

I love 'em both!

RIP Brian WIlson.

For me, "I can hear music" is still one of the most perfect pop songs ever written.
RIP from me as well. But wow, we have very different tastes in music. Which is fine.

I think he’s fine.

I guess I don’t turn on and jack up the fawning for someone that dies like you.

Hey. Dick Van Dyke is pretty old. You may want to mentally prepare for the genius posts when he goes.

The original Mary Poppins put Van Dyke on an acting tier we didn't see the equal of until Daniel Day Lewis.

I honestly thought he was a chimney sweep for the longest time.

I wanted to get my thoughts in first before the posers arrived.

I forgot that Kevin Love was related to Wilson.

his handle looks a little loose... Also, at 6-2, he's not tall enough to play the point here. Pass

Smile, the follow up to Pet Sounds, was also a masterpiece. Unfortunately, it was never finished and released as Brian wanted. The songs Brian worked on was basically redid by the rest of the band and released across a few albums through the early 70s. A combination of mental issues, drugs, pressure from the band, his father and the studio eventually did him in and he was never as prolific again. But, from 1962 to 1967, he was competing head to head with Beatles..

Well... my tastes run from Zeppelin > The Mavericks > Emmylou Harris > X > Nathaniel Rateliff > 60's Stax > 70's funk > Miles > Tedeschi Trucks > Geils > ABBA > early rockabilly > country blues ;)

So, Miles, ABBA, and blues.

Went to see Al Jardine and the Pet Sounds Band last evening! There were 11 members in this ensemble, many former players with the Beach Boys. It was a GREAT show with most of the Beach Boys Hits performed really, really well. Al's son handled all of the falsetto parts perfectly. I highly recommend catching this show if they are in your area!
