Bob Uecker has passed away at the age of 90. Funny guy who did not take himself or sports too seriously.
Listen to his HOF speech. It's classic (and that line was in it).“When I looked to the third base coach while at bat, he turned his back”
“My manager said go grab a bat and stop this rally”
I was just going to post this. The best to ever do it, IMO and one of the funniest humans ever. This one hit me, it feels like the end of an era, you just don't see personalities like Bob Uecker anymore in sports. Pull up Norm Macdonald and Artie Lange talking about Ueck on Howard Stern if you've never seen it.
When I heard of his passing I immediately thought of the Yelich interview when Milwaukee's season ended.
I just watched it. I would have posted link but couldn’t find a good one, One jumped too much and the other had too many commercials.Listen to his HOF speech. It's classic (and that line was in it).
The best line from his HOF speech was "When the (Milwaukee) Braves wanted to sign me the offer was $3,000 . That upset my father..... He didn't have that kind of money to pay them".Listen to his HOF speech. It's classic (and that line was in it).
I might as well go and post it. The one that killed me starts at 2:25. And it's the "most replayed".The best line from his HOF speech was "When the (Milwaukee) Braves wanted to sign me the offer was $3,000 . That upset my father..... He didn't have that kind of money to pay them".
I'm in a text thread with some buddies and we asked has there ever been a more beloved guy? One of them said no, Santa Claus possibly???Man, I remember this clip from that day. Knowing now that Yelich probably knew Uecker was battling cancer, it brings a whole different light to his statements.
Bob Uecker was a voice of my childhood summers (and even up until this year), not to mention his acting roles and being in the community. Such a great guy and he really lived a full life, right up to the end. Can't ask for more than that. He will be sorely missed.
