RIP Bob Uecker

I was just going to post this. The best to ever do it, IMO and one of the funniest humans ever. This one hit me, it feels like the end of an era, you just don't see personalities like Bob Uecker anymore in sports. Pull up Norm Macdonald and Artie Lange talking about Ueck on Howard Stern if you've never seen it.

When I heard of his passing I immediately thought of the Yelich interview when Milwaukee's season ended.

Man, I remember this clip from that day. Knowing now that Yelich probably knew Uecker was battling cancer, it brings a whole different light to his statements.

Bob Uecker was a voice of my childhood summers (and even up until this year), not to mention his acting roles and being in the community. Such a great guy and he really lived a full life, right up to the end. Can't ask for more than that. He will be sorely missed.

I just watched it. I would have posted link but couldn’t find a good one, One jumped too much and the other had too many commercials.

He tells the “story” of how he knew he was done as a major leaguer. Was on the field working out toward the end of spring training when they were paring down the rosters and as he attempted to enter the locker room an official stopped him and said “players only”.

I'm in a text thread with some buddies and we asked has there ever been a more beloved guy? One of them said no, Santa Claus possibly???

He was beloved by everyone but this has really gotta hurt for the people of Milwaukee and Wisconsin. He was your voice. He was huge for the whole sport and outside of sports but I've never seen someone in sports be that connected to his city. He was 90 and he was still just one of the guys in the locker room.

It feels like the end of an era in many respects. They don't make em like Bob Uecker anymore.

Sorry to see him pass away. I remember his line about how the best way to catch a knuckleball was to wait until it stopped rolling then pick it up.
