Following practice today, Tuck needed some assistance scaling the stairs inside Gampel Pavilion. Who helped her? Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis, of course.

“It was nice of her,’’ Tuck said. “It’s funny. She’s hurt in the upper body and I’m hurt with my lower body. We can help each other out now that we need it.’’

Thanks Pap...........If an injury had to occur its good to get them over with. Its early in the season , and we have injuries , and the other guys still got to come and take it from us. And it still won't be easy.

It's very rare that UCONN has a cakewalk to the NC. This is one of those seasons where it's possible the thin roster could come back to haunt us. I fully understand there is a reason the staff ended up not continuing to pursue players like Reimer, Holmes, and others - but the very narrow casting of the net and kids who chose other schools has made this season nerve wracking for fans I'm sure.

Things to over come - injuries to KML and Morgan. Brianna Banks coming back from a season ending injury last year, and an untested freshman who seems mature beyond her years so far. With a current roster of 7, not including the walk ons, a lot of responsibility falls on fewer shoulders. Fortunately all our players work out so hopefully they can all be like Atlas and handle it!!

I know Morgan and Kaleena would much rather be on the court, and watching from the bench will not be fun for them. Prayers and support from UCONN nation to get well soon!! And hopefully come March everyone is healthy and raring to go!

Perhaps a little perspective is in order. This "thin bench" situation may be an obstacle to an undefeated season. It still might happen, but why should that be a concern when, if anything, this situation might improve the play of those with question marks. Two players with few question marks will still be available for a championship run.

This "thin bench" scenario as it currently stands enhances our championship chances. Only if we lose more players does it start to get dicey, but recruiting for the contingency of losing 3-4 players for part of a season brings it's own championship inhibiting factors.
