Anyone who is there is pouring money into the athletic program - which, mind you, we need to become "big time."

While, yes, I'd rather 30,000 rabid fans versus 10k that are there simply for the event, I'd much rather 30,000 there (10k who are just there for the event) than only 20,000 there.

Who made you Fan Police? Who annointed you King of The Fans? Maybe you should just worry about what you're doing and let people spend thier afternoon at The Rent in whatever manner they see fit.

You must mean through direct donations, tickets, UConn merchandise, because if I'm not mistaken the program doesn't make a dime from the concessions, there are others here that can confirm that to be true or false, but given that we "rent" the Rent for games I doubt we take the profits from the concessions.

I was annointed King of the Fans by the Ayatollah of UConn Footballa. I say if you buy a ticket to come and see a football game, then you should come in and watch the football game and cheer and boo to your hearts content. If you are there primarily to "party" you aren't there for the football game. I tailgate before the games and have been known to put away a few glasses of drink and a lot of food in the blue lot. That said, I am in my seat for the kick-off. If you are there to simply drink and bs around, you should throw a party at home. It's cheaper and you won't annoy others who want to watch and enjoy the game they paid to see. The King of Fans has spoken!
 
People who complain about the Ribbon Boards are usually the same s who complained about getting the 10th anniversary collector coin in the mail.

You realize turning fans against each other is a surefire way to destroy the program. But go right ahead and take your act to the parking lot and the concourses. If you own a business and your employees are desperate for their next paycheck that attitude might work. In this case it could have unintended consequences. I'm assuming/hoping you're only half serious. We'd all like a rabid fanbase but it's not everyones #1 priority. A lot of fans in all sports are there for the event or because they are bandwagon jumpers to a winning team. We should be trying to reach both markets. It's just good business sense.

You being a "true fan" and all, the ribbon boards are not for you. They are for that casual fan that is making the choice between staying home and playing video games or coming out to the field and watching the game in person. It adds to the in stadium experience, whether you recognize it or not.

Question: if "Fans" choose the exit, are you going to complain about that?

during the Towson game I stopped standing for 3rd downs because, you know, what's the use (I wasn't the only one).....and these d-bags in front were going GET UP!!GET UP!! GET UP!! with that "get up" arm gesture. It was satisfying just sitting there watching these SuperFans trying to direct the crowd. These are the same dip$hits that give people who leave early a hard time.

I guess I am a superfan dipsh#t, although I hate, hate it when people come in late,(rude) or leave early. I know it's your ticket to do what you want with it ( pathetic excuse).

Actually your rant about the fan's behavior felt like an arm extension/tiny mustache to me. But of course that's just my opinion.

I go to basketball games and they do not allow people to stand around holding a beer on the concourse. They can do it inside by the refreshment stands but not in the arena area.

Basketball is a bad example. Fire doors separate the concession area from the arena at XL and you can't see anything from the concession areas at Gampel (where they don't sell beer)...Technically, a person is not in the viewing area until they step over the red line at Rentschler. They are still in the concession area. People are cleared from the concourses at Rentschler just as they are the XL and Gampel, The sidewalk behind the lower bowl is continuously cleared of loiterers by police and security. The difference is that Rentschler is (correctly) designed to see at least part of the field from the concession area.

The simple answer is that the ticket = assigned seat = must occupy assigned seat is only enforceable within reason (i.e. checking tickets in the chairback rows of the lower bowl in the first half). Giving a powertripping security guard even more authority takes away from the stadium experience and people will actually leave because of it. Stadium management can't help if the product drives people away, However they can affect their own employees/contractors from doing so. The longer a patron is in the stadium, the more likely they are to purchase refreshments = more revenue. It's like when they say, "if you don't notice the ref, he's doing a good job." If Security is maintaining reasonable order without interfering with the fans' experience, live and let live.
 
Anyone who has a problem with a fan trying to get other fans to stand up needs to stick with the BB games. Preferably the women's team.
