This has turned out to be an interesting game! Go RU!

Manning headed to the locker room. Didn't look serious, but can't ever be sure with knee injuries (which it appeared to be).

Any time Rutgers gets a three point lead, they play like they're up 15 with three minutes to go. It's bizarre.

Glory Johnson has not developed very much in her time with the LV's. She is really a poor offensive player, considering how athletic she is.

100% agree. Diamond DeShields should be taking notice.

New definition of offense - run and chuck, steal and chuck, turnover and chuck.

Tennessee has a one point lead, but this game is getting physical and ugly. In other words, this looks more and more like a Rutgers game.

Why do Ward and Peck keep using the word "great" to describe this game? I don't think they're watching the same game I am.

On a side note, watching this game makes it ever more clear how the 'carry' has become more and more accepted, and never called. Some of our girls do it, too (and I often point this out) but I don't remember seeing a game where so many egregious carries are allowed to masquerade as legal dribbles.

It's over. LV's hit threes late and RU misses everything.

They are the worst pair of announcers IMO. Not even close.

Indeed. Competitive? Yes. Great? Not so much.

Rutgers has no heart. They could easily have beaten Miami and Tennessee, but they can't seal the deal late in games. I stand by my prediction that UConn will bury the Scarlet Knights in Hartford.

If RU can't score from its defense or make a basket off a one-on-one play, it's not capable of scoring. Nothing has changed.

Well, LV's will definitely be better when Massengale returns, but I don't think a trip to the FF is in the cards without a very favorable draw and some luck. Too weak defensively, and their offense is all perimeter. I thought Baugh would really help on the offensive end, but it does not seem to be happening.

Kudos t0 Simmons. She buries two 3's at winning time. Rutgers had it in their grasp and let slip away.

Rutgers looked like they had no clue how to attack a zone.

I think this game thread is longer than the one on that other board! I love our knowledgeable, passionate posters!

if this is the same Rutgers team that will face Uconn in Feb.. it's going to be a longgggg night for the Scarlets.

This Uconn team will blow by Tennessee by the way..

Let me make some positive comments. (No junk.)

When I first watched Sykes (Madison Square Garden, Maggie Dixon Classic, a couple years ago), she seemed out of shape and lost on the court. And she didn't shoot well either. I have seen her more recently vs. UConn and I did not detect any significant improvement. Tonight she was about all Rutgers had with her shooting, ball-handling, and passing. Quite an improvement.

Spani is about Sykes's size and she is a superb ball-handler and a deadly shooter. Stricklen (aka Strickland sometimes) is a really good player with too many roles to perform.

Somebody posted something about "the lesser of two evils." I guess the lesser is still evil, right?
