this is kind of a misevaluation of where the bigs game is going. being a defensive stopper and having a great post game with passing is a lot more valuable now than the old 'unicorn' archetype of being a big perimeter player with face up game.

They view him as Dirk 2.0. He seemed to have a lot of trouble missing bunnies at the rim for a guy that big.

Yep....Watching the German Jr Team last summer, I thought their other big was the Dirk level comp. Reibe looked a little soft/ to much a finesse guy around the rim, on D and not as good a rebounder. ( though he scored at a good rate).

Compared to Steinbach, who came over as a FR at Washington. I guess he turned out to be in high demand !

Doesn't USC have twin 7 foot 5 stars coming in? Going to be interesting if they both leap frog him as they looked way more smooth from 3 and more aggressive on the boards in the Jordan Brand classic

They are both 7 foot and one is listed as a PF. I'm sure it will be interesting to see how this shakes out for him.

Those guys are 7’ 200+

Eric is 260. They’ll play the 4 next to Eric while he’s a true 5.

The twins will be the 4/5 players that we’ve been talking about us wanting to have. But they aren’t starting 5s at their weight.

But he doesn’t want to be a true 5. We wanted him to learn how to play the 5 before he started hoisting up 3’s and he wasn’t interested

I might be the one person who says "this is a good fit" for Reibe, but I think this is probably best case scenario for him. Some people would rather live in LA than Storrs. The Big 10 west coast team travel is awful, but the Big 10 is also the premier athletic conference in college sports now (not the SEC). I have no idea what kind of deal he got there, nor do I think USC will be even close to as highly ranked as UConn next year but the fact of the matter is - in UConn's system, he was going to split time and it was going to hurt his numbers. That's not the thing for some guys. We should be thankful of the Castle and Ross and Stewie (sad face) type-guys who came here or stayed here much longer than they needed to if they wanted to put up crazy numbers and minutes.

Musselman isn't a great coach (thank God we went after Hurley instead of him - if anyone remembers those names being thrown around at the same time) but I think he's finally got some money/resources to build a program at USC now after two mediocre years. They kind of fell apart at the end of last year (not really due to travel - they only had Ohio State on the road during the losing streak outside the Pacific Time Zone) - but before that they won at Wisconsin and almost beat Purdue and Iowa. Musselman's years at Arkansas were just about throwing money at everything (pre-NIL) and it was an awful fit for a west coast guy.

No doubt about the B10, and I'm sure USC will be a great experience. It's like when you go through a break up and try to find the exact opposite in the next partner. I don't think it turns out great for him. He's generally had a ton of good talent over the years and has done very little with it, Collier most recently.

He got very good players at Arkansas as well - the team we waxed had a few NBA players on it. It's hard for me to route for the B10 & Muss. Not sure I'll be changing that with Reibe there.

California college basketball teams are like entertainment kryptonite. San Diego State used to be an exception but not any more. Only put them on if there’s nothing else to watch or I want to take a nap.

Kid is a stud... I can't imagine paying a player 8-9 million right now though. Definitely not a Power Foward.
 
USC is a non-competitive NCAA basketball program. Which says something about Reibe. Something that his exit from UCONN already has said. He's not really interested in competing at the NCAA level.
