Reibe in the portal

Weird fit since Musselman just brought in that twin brother duo of bigs. There are much needier teams out there. Muss also runs a very unstructured system typically without traditional bigs - wouldn't think that's a fit for Reibe. I'm calling that bluff.
If you’re talking about the Ratliff twins, one of them is a PF and the other is very small for a center (210 pounds).

There’s a starting spot available for him and USC is raking up talent with Arenas probably coming back, those twins, and they just got a commitment from KJ Lewis and Rodney Rice.

It’s a talented roster. But my personal beliefs just don’t know how they’ll gel together in a year.

Interesting. “Eric’s camp”? What all makes up a camp? You got mom and dad and….? He was gonna start and he fouls so much the position demands another center to split duty with.

I think camp sounds less personal than family, so that’s what gets used.

But camp is family here.

Nah this one seems legit. On3 is heavily leaning towards it too, he knows Rodney Rice on USC

I would like the Ball of 24/25 back, not the Ball of 25/26.
Are you saying you would rather not have 25/26 Ball back under any circumstances? That's crazy. Even 25/26 Ball is better than nothing. If he does come back, that will be one of the big early story lines to follow. There was a lot of talk after the season about Ball's lingering wrist injury. I am very interested to see how a healthy Ball looks next year.

How did my take age poorly? I would say I was right on the mark. Hurley was already alluding to challenges from Reibe’s family/agent months ago. And he chose to mention it in a post-game presser. The fact that I brought it up two months ago and not one yarder acknowledged or responded to it just might show that most people here had their heads in the sand at the time. Well, I did get one like on that post. From @Chief00 … today.
Your take seems basically correct in hindsight. The one you were responding to (months ago) about Reed being worse on offense than Reibe however...

I am saying that should he decide to come back, I would prefer the 24/25 Solo over the 25/26 Solo. His shooting in the earlier version was much better than the latter version. His defense is less than desirable in each of those years, so it is IMO a wash.

I would have loved to be a fly on the wall when he went into Hurley's office.

That's the big mystery.

My guess is that this wasn't about competition, it was about fit. Who really knows if Hurley pushed him out or he chose to walk away.

I guess it doesn't matter, but as a fan, it kind of does.

I really thought he was going to be a big factor next year. I'm a big fan and wish him well

I think its close to zero percent chance he was pushed out. Despite the narrative by some, somehow.

It probably depends on how you define “pushed out”. It’s not a hard leap come to the conclusion that Hurly was clear that they were bringing someone in to potentially start over him and along with that, my guess is the money being offered for next year was less than Reibe expected. Hurley would have seemingly liked to have him back in a bench role but I also have no doubt that Hurley knew this was the likely outcome based on the role they were offering.

These conversations probably center around playing time. To improve, you have to be on the court and Hurley is not promising any playing time.

I agree with that, to a point. I don't think Reibe was guaranteed to be day 1 starter, getting 25 minutes a game, or the green light to take 3's, as he will be offered to do elsewhere. His role wouldve been one of 2 heads of center rotation, sometimes, just to set screens. I dont think he wouldve necessarily on the bench, like alot of board assumes. I think he wants to be Dirk.

Doubt we will ever know the nil number, but he isnt going to be cheap, and he's not gonna be a backup at a top program next yr IMO. His camp aside, Danny saying he was a warrior, and one of his fave players to ever coach in the presser should spin back the character assassination narrative.

Fully agreed, some of the takes here are getting weirdly personal and unnecessary. His defense wasn’t where we needed it to be for a starter, there were better options available, and it was probably best for both parties to move on. Sometimes it’s as simple as that.

I get that it's Hurley's job to improve and out recruit the current talent.

Before the transfer portal became what it is today, teams had to develop talent and bring in top freshman

Today you can rebuild your roster overnight, but that will cost you a loss of culture

The guys that came here, came because of the UConn culture. You want guys to stick around to teach that to the next guy.

Alex forever was that guy. Now that you can earn some good money at the college level, sometimes better than NBA money, sticking around and helping to retain that culture is huge.

Well we need a rebounding machine in that position, no, we need 2 rebounding machines in that spot. But we all appreciate what Reibe did for us last year, good luck.

I'd like to see a height cap. Each team gets 92 feet.
Haha, And they can only play 32 1/2 feet at one time during the game. It would make for some interesting substitution patterns.
