OK, here's my player comp: a cross between Cam Spencer and Grant Williams.
Reibe seems to have quickness and athleticism but doesn't seem to understand where he needs to be on defense or can't get there because the opponent blocks him out very easily, leaving a clear path to the basket for another player. This UW commit has 15 PTS and 17 REB with a couple minutes to go. Wowthe
Unfortunately Reibe didn't get to finish the game with other guys playing well. Ended up with 6/5/0 in 13 minutes. 3/5 from 2, 0/2 from 3 with 1 TO. No steals, and should've been credited with a block.
Nice comeback win for Germany.
Reibe seems to have quickness and athleticism but ends up on the wrong side of the guy he's defending, leaving a clear path to the basket for a different opponent.
Pressure of playing at this level?
Unsure of himself?
Not aggressive enough?
Not strong enough to move his man?
Needs two months of Hurley in his face?
Yeah, he looks like he has the kind of composure that Cam had. No moment too big for him.Furphy plays great every time I've seen him but this was against a team full of lottery picks/first rounders/#1 pick next year. There should be no questions about this kid. He can score, pass, rebound, knows how to play D despite being an average at best run jump athlete at this level. He's good at everything and just knows how to play.
He's going to be like Cam in that people are going to look at him and think that guy doesn't look like a basketball player and then he cooks everyone. Throw in the competitiveness/not backing down from anyone, first to run over and pick his teammate up and every UConn fan will love him with fans across the country either loving him or hating him.
Yup, want to see him play as a 4 too, so yeah, let’s find more 5 help.To be fully honest, he has underplayed his ranking all but 1 time I've seen him. I think people see 7-foot, a decent looking jumper and assume high 4*. But the lack of physicality and defensive IQ is hemorraghing his ability to be a positive contributor at a high level.
Bigs develop late typically so I'm not really concerned. All the pieces are there physically--it's just mental. I just do think we need a plan B backing up the 5.
I think it was with his left, which is his dominant hand.Did he nail a running floater with his off-hand at the 34 second mark? Asking for a friend.
6-6He was officially measured 6'4.5 last summer with no shoes. He'll be listed 6'5 or 6'6 here.
My son said he just looks shorter because the US team is massive.6-6

CongratsLooks like our boy got the start. I'm (quite literally) watching this on a bench while my wife buys clothes in Europe. She can't even WEAR THEM she's 7 months pregnant.
Yeah I saw very little out of Reibe in this game. He easily got boxed out by smaller dudes, isn't looking to position himself for the ball, he set picks and rolled but the German guards never even looked at him on the roll, he also doesn't look to be a great rebounder at this point. Furphy on the other hand is the Tasmanian Devil. It will be interesting to see how that strength, energy and skill translates into out systemI gotta wonder what our plan is at the 5 right now as a backup. Reibe COULD be ready but I see no guarantee without a serious summer and fall for him in the gym. Koroma?
and you dont remember his getting thatFinished with 24 points, game high. 7/10 from 2, 2/8 from 3. 4 TOs, 2 Steals. 4 boards and an assist.
He's a lefty, but he did make a nice right-handed floater in the 3rd Qtr.Did he nail a running floater with his off-hand at the 34 second mark? Asking for a friend.
We have to keep in mind that Germany doesn't have a great point guard. Anderson is more of a scorer. Kayil had a bad game. They don't usually play with him. Compounded with his foul trouble, he didn't show off what he could. We'll see if that foul trouble continues, but the refs kinda stink, too.Yeah I saw very little out of Reibe in this game. I've been saying he was my fave incoming recruit (even over Mullins) for quite awhile now on the board, since the original Furphy post. Not all of us had him destined for pine time.I couldn’t tell you when or if my opinions on his minutes projections have been made known here, but I believe I was the poster who first noted our interest in Furphy and loved his game since that minute.
I suspected he would compete for minutes right away.
His game is so mature, he can shoot and pass and he’s strong.

Thats why I laid more on the fact that they never looked for him on the rollWe have to keep in mind that Germany doesn't have a great point guard. Anderson is more of a scorer. Kayil had a bad game. Think it's a pretty easy choice, the worst defender on last year's team who was also a total zero on offenseSooo who is losing minutes to Jacob?
Are you sure? I looked several times it looks all right to me. Do we have a tie-breaker out there?I think it was with his left, which is his dominant hand.
You think wives only buy clothes to wear them? Wow, young husbands have so much to learn.Looks like our boy got the start. I'm (quite literally) watching this on a bench while my wife buys clothes in Europe. She can't even WEAR THEM she's 7 months pregnant.
From the very little I’ve seen on Reibe he seems to be always floating away from the paint to the corner 3s and taking not so great shots. Hurley will pull him quick if he does that stuff with us. He needs to keep his man in front of him on defense and on offense set those screens , drop down to the post and do the dirty work. Will have to hit the weight room otherwise he will get roasted in the big east.Reibe clearly very skilled, but the decision-making and mental side of the game definitely needs a fair amount of seasoning. Plus adding strength all over (core, lower body, arms).
