Looks like our boy got the start. I'm (quite literally) watching this on a bench while my wife buys clothes in Europe. She can't even WEAR THEM she's 7 months pregnant.
Congrats

I gotta wonder what our plan is at the 5 right now as a backup. Reibe COULD be ready but I see no guarantee without a serious summer and fall for him in the gym. Koroma?
Yeah I saw very little out of Reibe in this game. He easily got boxed out by smaller dudes, isn't looking to position himself for the ball, he set picks and rolled but the German guards never even looked at him on the roll, he also doesn't look to be a great rebounder at this point. Furphy on the other hand is the Tasmanian Devil. It will be interesting to see how that strength, energy and skill translates into out system

I couldn’t tell you when or if my opinions on his minutes projections have been made known here, but I believe I was the poster who first noted our interest in Furphy and loved his game since that minute.

I suspected he would compete for minutes right away.

His game is so mature, he can shoot and pass and he’s strong.

We have to keep in mind that Germany doesn't have a great point guard. Anderson is more of a scorer. Kayil had a bad game. They don't usually play with him. Compounded with his foul trouble, he didn't show off what he could. We'll see if that foul trouble continues, but the refs kinda stink, too.

I've been saying he was my fave incoming recruit (even over Mullins) for quite awhile now on the board, since the original Furphy post. Not all of us had him destined for pine time.

Reibe seems to have quickness and athleticism but doesn't seem to understand where he needs to be on defense or can't get there because the opponent blocks him out very easily, leaving a clear path to the basket for another player.
Pressure of playing at this level?
Unsure of himself?
Not aggressive enough?
Not strong enough to move his man?
Needs two months of Hurley in his face

Danny Wolff barely saw the floor his freshman year at Yale. Some bigs need time to figure it out before it clicks for them.

Thats why I laid more on the fact that they never looked for him on the roll

I think it was with his left, which is his dominant hand.
Are you sure? I looked several times it looks all right to me. Do we have a tie-breaker out there?

Reibe clearly very skilled, but the decision-making and mental side of the game definitely needs a fair amount of seasoning. Plus adding strength all over (core, lower body, arms).
From the very little I’ve seen on Reibe he seems to be always floating away from the paint to the corner 3s and taking not so great shots. Hurley will pull him quick if he does that stuff with us. He needs to keep his man in front of him on defense and on offense set those screens , drop down to the post and do the dirty work. Will have to hit the weight room otherwise he will get roasted in the big east.

i thought Koroma's athletic defense and experience last yr playing the 5man in a 5 out offense lets him slide right into the Samson rotation spot if Reibe isnt ready defensively. I cant see Danny being ok having to use both centers in drop, so Koroma has a chance I think
100%, I think we go with experience and koroma did put up sweet numbers against a really good team last year named UCONN.

I'm gonna say it, Furphy reminds me of a slightly more fluid Cam Spencer. Finds space in the defense, sees it, even waits for it to open, and gets a variety of shots off depending on the D.
Geez. More fluid than Cam??? Why stop there? I hear he is seven feet tall! …. Kills men by the hundreds. And if he were at UConn, he'd consume the Big East with fireballs from his eyes, and bolts of lightning from his arse.
