The 2 bad out of bounds calls seemed to suck the momentum out from under them.

More even than the missed bunny by Diarra that would've made the arena erupt even more.

The phantom fouls on Alex were basically given because McDermott was calling for it. You could see McDermott stomping and demanding it. Not sure what Alex was supposed to do. Green put his arm out and hooked him and Alex clamped it there. Is Alex supposed to raise his arms out of his defensive posture to give Green a free release and the advantage? Alex kept his arms down to get stability or leverage.

That is a nutty foul call.

But McDermott demanded it and the official complied.

Why is it that no other major conference has an issue with the officiating? Sure maybe at Duke or at Kansas but not the conference as a whole.

Danny called out the refs a bit in the presser suggesting the UConn style fares better with Tourney refs. I guess that doesn’t solve for the fact we are in the BE for the foreseeable future and now have Pitino putting together teams that look like the Mike Tyson of the BE.

Gonna be interesting to see what Danny does in the portal.

You know, I think that we are better prepared for the NCAA tournament because of big east refs, as annoying as it is we seem to over perform in tournament play

Id rather this than be one of the teams that gets the kids gloves all year and then loses in the tournament when they get 22 fouls called on them

It looks worse for us because the league doesn’t care about freedom of movement and our offensive scheme is disproportionally impacted by that. That combo means the bear hugs on AK and Liam off-ball become the default defense from opposing coaches. It’s not a conspiracy, it’s just the ridiculous way this league chooses to call their games (and has been for a long time), which for some reason they continue to think is a differentiating part of the league culture.
If you're right we should breeze to #7. I, for one, will enjoy it even more than the first 6!

There were three out of bounds calls that clearly went off Creighton in the game and the ball was awarded to Creighton all three times. There were no out of bounds plays that went off UConn and UConn was awarded the ball.

These weren't close calls that you needed replay on to know who it went off of, it was as clear as day they all went off Creighton. We survived the first of the back to back ones during our second half comeback. The second one was a backbreaker. We cut the lead to three points with a little over 6 minutes left. Ball clearly went off Creighton, they gave it to Creighton and Jamiya Neal went down the court and hit a three to make it a 6 point game.

We played terribly defensively for over 25 minutes and once again McDermott outcoached Hurley but the refs have hurt us all season in Big East play. Hurley can and should be blamed for putting together a highly flawed roster and a finesse roster in a physical league but clear holds should be called and guys put two arms around McNeeley constantly all season in conference without calls. I'm not excusing his recent play, he's been really bad but the guy never gets a whistle. Solo also gets held a lot.
McDermott looked pretty smug and arrogant in the post dunk debate with Luke. Anyone have any insights into what Luke said or how McD responded?

Nope, they were horrid in both games. Sum it up this way - how do you keep Neal's dunk from blowing up like that ? It should have been a technical foul for the pullup on the rim . Do your damn job.

The most horrific call (non-call) for the two games was the elbow to Solo's face in the first few minutes of the Nova game. Refs didn't even review it for a flagrant.

Yeah I thought they’d review that one considering they review everything nowadays.

Teams are allowed to hand check, grab and push us out of rhythm, for entire games. It’s noticeable and blatant. Thursdays Villanova game was a prime example. We’re not built for that this year. So you noticeably had our one legged PG, and others, bringing the ball up against muggings, but then the refs blow a quick whistle on our bigs. We don’t have the physicality in our little guards to handle the BE refs this season. Plus, as witnessed last night, Reed moves and handles furniture totally different than Samson.

Haven't heard anything but feel there was some bad blood after the last meeting, Hurley talking about the 2 rings to the fans.

McDermott has always rubbed me the wrong way, he comes across as classy but in a smug way. Overall feel that heads were going to crash eventually, two highly competitive coaches. Creighton has owned us yet we have won back to back championship.

This board needs to get over the “referee” conspiracy. We let a team shoot 75% against us over an entire half. Process that for a moment. Teams don’t shoot that well in warm ups

We are atrocious defensively. We’ve been atrocious defensively all year. There is NO referee conspiracy against us. The conference does not hate us. In fact, we’ve probably been the best thing for it since we left.

Refs miss calls both ways EVERY GAME. Get over it. We laid a BIG FAT EGG tonight. That’s on the coaches and players and no one eise.

No wonder everyone hates us.
I mean conspiracy is extreme but those back to back out of bounds calls were comically bad, as well as not initially calling that foul before the shot clock expired. Everyone in the garden could see them plain as day and they probably cost us a real shot at winning.

Val Ackerman was not happy. She was just shaking her head when those calls were made.

That Elmer Fudd looking ref is out of his depth. He needs to be sent to the glue factory.

When any big east team beats UConn, for them it is like winning a national championship. The last second dunk by Neal only verifies that games against UConn are essentially their final four game. It is unlikely that Crieghton will win an national championship and it is unlikely that most Big East teams, except UConn, will win a national championship.

Yes, I think they were obliged to review it as it was head/neck area and frankly it looked intentional. I was yelling at TV like how do you NOT review this - it was as clear as clear gets for a review.

I seriously can’t wait until football finds something that works for them / works for us / done with the Big East - it was a nice stopping point but this is getting old, time to vamoose!

That dunk definitely makes the Creighton program look bad.

McDermott was talking postgame how “tough” they were physically, rubbing the W in…

Maybe Danny shouldn’t have done the whole 2 ring thing on his way out of Creighton…. Maybe…

But Creighton’s Brand took a dip last night. Not a good look…

This is a non-serious specialty conference run by people that can’t get out of their own way. Pretty sad when the league can figure out something is aberrant with foul disparities across a whole season.

Why hasn’t anyone done an expose on the massive conspiracy by all refs, across the country, against UConn? This is the BIGGEST STORY IN ALL OF SPORTS!!!!!

Question for those that pollute this board with their theory that every single ref in college basketball is out to get UConn: If this conspiracy is so obvious, why do any players or coaches come to UConn? If there is a massive conspiracy to destroy UConn, why would anyone play for UConn? Why doesn't UConn just shut its basketball program down if there is an obvious and far-ranging conspiracy to destroy the athletic program?

The ref complaining is perhaps the biggest waste of mental bandwidth as a sports fan. It’s unfortunate so many tribal chuckleheads get pulled into it and clog the white space.

If the refs are working for you, then revise your strategy. They’re a constant part of the game.

The OOB calls were egregious, especially the 2nd one. The ball clearly went off a white-skinned hand, and the only white players anywhere near the ball were all on Creighton. How is that missed by the refs?

As others have said, our players get mauled by other teams, yet we seem to be the ones called for touch fouls. The last 2 on AK were ridiculous.

Games should be called the same both ways, whether with a quick whistle or not.
