Refs

Think about your conclusion…,we let a team shoot better than most teams do during warm ups. That pretty much means they weren’t defended.
Oh I'm thinking about it. So what you are saying is that we were defending less than they are defended during shoot around.
1 That's impossible
2 Think about your conclusion. You are saying that not one UConn player was able to play any defense whatsoever, at all, zero, nothing, nada, zilch. To the point of actually helping shooters shoot. That's some grade A bs.
3 That's impossible

He said the team that gets less fouls called will probably win. They would have gotten rolled no matter what the refs. But yes BE refs do let things go, so build teams to take advantage of it.

I am of two minds on this last part. You do need teams that can handle the physicality but I do not think you should build teams like SJU was built this year, or Cooley's PC teams, or how old Pitt used to be built. Those are teams that are quick to flame out in the NCAAT, we shall see on SJU this year. It's has to be a balance. Perhaps I'm wrong because it does seem like there are more teams built like that than before - Tennessee (elite eight - 2024), Houston (FF-2021), ISU, MSU, and SDSU (NC game 2023) being the most accomplished in recent years, but the majority of those teams seem to be bounced in the sweet sixteen, or earlier.

This post made me think a lot, so here is my long response for anyone that cares to read it.

Creighton is 9-3 against UConn and frankly I would like UConn to defeat them more. Winning on Saturday would have done wonders to putting the kibosh on this narrative even if it is overblown. But it's not like UConn being 11-0 against Butler.

were basically spotted a 4 game lead in the “series” during the first 2 years of the Hurley rebuild, we were heavy underdogs to win any of those games simply due to talent level disparity.

...

The best way to squash this tired narrative: just beat them a few more times in the next few seasons. They already defeated them in getting Eric Reibe (Creighton was in 2nd place for him). Oddly enough he would have been the perfect center besides Sanogo for Kalkbrenner's deep drop coverage as he can shoot the 3 (Sanogo took Kalkbrenner to the woodshed in the post both games in 2023 and hit 3s on him).
Fantastic! That's all.

It’s not that there‘s a conspiracy it’s just were not well liked/respected by the members in our conference.
Thats literally the definition of a conspiracy lol

Hate to break it to you, but no one cares about UConn that much to attempt to sabatoge us.

The most horrific call (non-call) for the two games was the elbow to Solo's face in the first few minutes of the Nova game. Refs didn't even review it for a flagrant.
Solo caught an elbow in the grill TWICE within minutes. Plain to see. Even Stevie Wonder would of caught that.

.-.
As is Hurley in sticking it to the refs.
He started by pissing off the NBE refs, then the national refs and now the NCAA is sticking it to Dan Hurley and UConn. No way would the NCAA ever place a 2 time defending champion in a 8/9 game with winner facing one of the top 4 teams. Never to Jay Wright.
Sorry but facts are the facts. Argue with the refs are one thing but pointing fingers and calling names has to stop.
If I were you I would lay off what ever it is you’re taking.

BC ?

Ouch! That’s gotta hurt :)

If there wasn‘t such a large FT discrepancy I’d be inclined to agree with you - not much on conspiracy theories. But it could be a lack of respect for the program - that could is pervasive and we are a school that doesn’t fit their profile either…

Yes let’s sabotage our most valued brand and asset. Thats a great idea. It has nothing to do with how this team plays. All the whining of the refs this year is weak sauce. It’s just a whole lot of complaining. What’s next, aliens shot JFK?

Don't you dare try to move the goalposts on that JFK conspiracy! (And the refs have been bad for three years, mediocre team or not)

UConn deserved an 8 seed. Where do you think they should have been seeded if nobody was out to get UConn?
This. I get that people have National Flag Blue shaded glasses, but KenPom has them at 35. The Massey composite has them at #32. The NCAA's NET rating has them, also, at 32. They're not ranked. Someone explain to me the basis for saying they should be higher than an 8

Just go look at last Thursdays Villanova game and see the literal karate Mahaney had to dribble through to bring the ball up the court. Unreal and blatant.
