I won't argue about who got the better end of the stick, as Stefanie took advantage of the "let em play" and committed a couple of bad fouls that put her on the bench. I agree it was a very tough game to call, but certainly did not want Dennis DeMayo doing it, regardless of how it went. I thought his terrible outing in Kingston on Sunday not only eliminated him from Tuesday's game, but the Final Four as well.
In addition to the endless non calls that could have gotten many players in foul trouble [Note my national flag blue glasses saw lots of ND fouls on their offensive glass when UConn rebounded the ball]. how about a couple of easy ones they messed up that could have been critical. 1. Check the replay of the last basket of the half and you should see the pitter patter of little feet incl. a moved pivot foot before the shot. 2. How about the scrum for a loose ball in the 2nd half with Tiffany, when even if you forget the obvious foul not being called, I ask where and when did Notre Dame have their hand or finger on the ball? Instead, it's a held ball and Notre Dame ball - Wow Mr. DeMayo! 3. I'm not positive on this one, but one rule I hate is the time out being allowed when it is still loose - shortly after #2 above, ND called one of them in UConn's end. I would like to see those only being called by the player, as they would need to establish possession and then call the TO.
Again, I'm only citing a few that went against UConn as examples of simple calls that three of the so called best officials deemed capable of calling a national semi final missed, along with arguably dozens more. Not a proud night IMHO for those three refs or the NCAA.
