Is everyone blind?

Asheville kid had his foot in the lane long before the ball left the foul shooter's hands.
he called it on the kid who went around the side, and if they call that they should call it the whole game

Because he wasn't in the lane. He was behind the 3-pt line and called for the violation over the 3-pt line....this has nothing to do with the lane under the basket. I think you need to go back and watch the play again...you clearly missed it or are just being dense here.

+1 i think you missed what the call was it was on the kid who got the rebound

The post game guys are going over it pretty clearly. It was a lane violation on the guy coming from outside of the 3 point arc. He isn't allowed to be in front of the free throw line until the ball hits the rim.

Oh, so there was a double lane violation?

Have you ever seen that called once in any other game? It happens on almost every free throw.

No, he repeatedly referred to the kid who rebounded the ball on the replays. He said it over and over. I think you need to go back and listen to who he was referring to. He was looking at the kid who came down with the ball.

The kid who rebounded the ball is the player who was behind the 3pt line.

I did not know that rule...if that is the case than yea he was clearly past the free throw line when the ball hit the rim

Alright alright, it was a good call then ... NBA and College rules are different.

What about the other calls, though?

But the replay clearly showed that the ball hit the rim before he retrieved it. SU lucked out with this one. But happens!

All this Hub Bub because the announcers didn't know the rules. I guess thats why they work for Tru TV.

But apparently, in college, the rule is: if you're outside the lane on a free throw attempt, you have to stay behind the free throw line until the ball hits the rim. That's not the case in the NBA.

The out of bounds call was ridiculously bad. Goaltend should have been called but it was close and you see that one missed all the time. 2 bad calls. There was also one bad call against Cuse earlier. All in all, 2 bad against Asheville and one against Cuse.

Can't understand what was going on during the out of bounds call. Absurd.

It seems like the call the ref made is technically correct by the rule books, but it is never really called in games.

Yes. Unbelievably frustrating, if you're a unca fan. Cuse WAS up that whole stretch, though, so you can't really say the "game" was stolen completely. The "innocence" feeling thee was definitely forfeited, though, by the refs seeming to r*ape the 16 seed.

No winners here, really. UNCA fans pissed, NCAA immediately bringing on a damage control rules guy to spin the egregious officiating.

Boeheim has the refs set up for a gangbang with Lori Fine as a thank you for those calls..... not that anybody would actually consider that a thank you

I thought UNC Ash played really dumb in the last 10 minutes, they deserved to lose

For clarity, the lane violation rule:

Players not in a legal marked lane space shall remain behind the freethrow
line extended and behind the three-point field-goal line until the ball
strikes the ring, flange or backboard, or until the free throw ends.

i thought we were going to get into a shootout with them, like in the 80's. instead they decided to stall ball in the second half. i didn't get that, they were getting good shots on us. they were a tough matchup, really quick, good passers and good shooters.

You are a good Cuse poster. What did you think of the refs tonight?

I don't know the answer, but it drives me crazy that 5 seconds after a bad call everyone knows the right way but there is no recourse. Can't there just be an official watching every game on TV and for these blatant misses buzzes the ref and changes it?

the ball that went off triche was obviously a blown call. i think he was anticipating a foul and just didn't catch it. they blew the call, pretty simple.

the lane violation i guess was right. i don't necessarily like "procedure" type calls if they don't affect the play, but the ref saw it and called it and by the sounds of it it was the right call.

aside from that i still don't get the call on triche at the end of the first half. he got fouled on the shot before the shot clock expired, but the ball didn't leave his hand so they wave it off? that makes no sense to me, what if the foul slowed down the release?
