Great article, thanks for sharing.

While on centers, are we sure Dan Hurley should be using Oso as any kind of offensive example for SJ? This is almost hard to watch.

Reed is 6’10” and 260? On tv he just doesn’t look it until he stands next to a guard it seems. If he weighs that much it must be solid muscle. Body comparison and strength maybe Okafor? But Emeka wasn’t that heavy.

Also what I can’t figure out if the post is a troll or a legitimate attempt at creating positive content about the Suns. Has to be a troll right because, if I am an opposing player guarding him I am going to talk smack most do. No way I would not bring this up and say something like you are not getting past me because I know you have a sorry jump shot that you can’t make.

His legs are like tree trunks, carries a lot of muscle in his lower half. That stoutness is probably what makes him appear less tall. He’s listed at 6’10 with a 7’4 WS. For reference Samson has a 7’5 WS, Adama was 7’2.5.

Adama was a beast in his upper body - great at using that shoulder. Tarris has 15-20lbs on him, could use whole body to clear space. If anything he’s built a bit more like Drummond.

As for Osu, kid needs a full overhaul of his technique. Not sure how he even got this far with that Elaine dance type form.

Funny, I have the same feeling watching him. His build, and the way he moves, is like a smaller player.

Exactly! You look at that picture and not know the height you could say he was a guard, proportion wise.

That is ugly. I know you're just kidding around, but Ighodaro took all of 2 threes last year (0-2) so Hurley was talking about his offense in the mid range and close to the basket. Which he was pretty good at. We could only wish that Samson was as good offensively as Ighodaro was last year at Marquette.

Okafor was listed at 255, I believe, but both him and Reed Jr. has compact muscle. I remember Okafor a lot during games, and in his sophomore and junior years he almost never got pushed or muscled off a spot on the floor.

I think Samson was significant contributor to last year's UConn team coming off the bench and especially when holding down the 5 spot with Clingan out for month. But he ain't no Oso Iguadharo. Oso really could not or did not shoot beyond 12 feet, which is the range he could use that one hand push shot which he was remarkably effective with. Oso is a very high IQ player and an exceptional passer with good ballhandling ability for a person that plays the 4 or 5.

Tarris has 2 years to develop in Storrs. Even with no really steep developmental curves, slow, steady growth will end up with a helluva Hoopster. Does he have more or less NBA potential than Adama? I'm thinking a good bit more.
Hes a little more athletic and bigger than Adama but is still a bit rough around the edges offensively but that will likely change the longer hes with this coaching staff. Ive been very enthusiastic about him and think hes going to be great here. Hes already showing signs of what hes capable of with some good coaching. As competition gets better he will need to step up and i think he will.

How does this happen?

His game is a lot more polished than I expected. He seems to know his craft and does his work with a quiet confidence. Always comforting when a 5 can shoot free throws, provides comfort in end of game situations. I think we'll see him add more muscle to that great frame.

He reminds me of an old BE big man, he's like an even bigger Jeff Adrien. I saw him at the parade last year coming through the crowd, walking up to the fence of the Civic Center entrance. Saw Kimani Young and Mamadou Diarra come out from inside to greet him.

NBA Okafor maybe. Reed is like Adrien light and Freeman deluxe build.

Best thing that came out of last game. He’s a powerful 6-9 260 and difficult to stop. That forces defense in and creates shooting space and driving lanes. He can put up 16-18 points a game easy
So glad to see you’re in form, my man. where do you see him getting drafted with another year of development?

Here’s what I love about Reed: he played admirably on a bad team but now he’s coached by a championship coaching staff and is shaping up to have a career year.

Yet again, another season of strong duo of bigs.

I've liked a lot of what I've been seeing out of Reed, but he has one habit that the staff needs to coach out of him. He often brings the ball down below his shoulders when he catches it in the post. Good opposing coaches will point that out and have their player exploit that.

UConn's coaches need to drill into him to keep the ball high and away from the defenders and go up strong with it. He has a wide frame where he should be creating more space and finishing more often and more easily at the rim. I'm sure the staff is working hard teaching that. Both Sanogo and Clingan were exceptional at that.

Reed has done so many other good things such as rebounding, creating space down low where he's caught so good enty passes and finished, setting solid screens, nice passing & kickouts and knocked down some midrange shots. He's only going to get better.
