Uconn would've been on an undefeated national championship run from 2008-2010.

Harper, Charles, Langhorne > Parker, Anosike, Fuller. Oh yeah and some freshman named Maya Moore.
Harper by herself would have made a huge difference as she was that center that UConn missed so badly till Tina showed up

Didn't UConn recruit local Tracy Lis one of the best players to come out of CT?

Cassie Harberts/2010 who went to USC.
She finished 7th in all time scoring at USC with 1800+ points and 8th in all time rebounds with over 800.

Yes. I heard, maybe 4th-hand, that there were personality differences between player and coach and so she went to Providence.

I believe Geno went after Cappie Pondexter fairly hard, and before that I think even Linda Miles--though I may not be remembering correctly.

Actually, they weren't. The decision came to down to OU and Texas. Ashley wanted Texas; Courtney wanted OU. HuskyNan can confirm that, as well.

Yes, Linda Miles and Geno retained a friendship after he recruited her as did cappie. I think cappie was closer to choosing UConn than RU fans may know.

My question is how many did UConn recruit that went on to NEVER win a National Championship?
2004 recruiting class.... Ketia Swainer ( spelt her name wrong...), Mel Thomas, charade Houston, Brittany Hunter.... The following class had Renee and they won their senior season.... Then back to the group who graduated in 99. Amy Duran, Rita Williams, Talia Aberlic (spelling)....

These are the ones I can think of first off. So that is 7 players in the past twenty years!!!!!

UConn was not on her final list of four. It was Duke, Kentucky, Notre Dame, or Louisville.

Others:
2004 - Chante Black
2005 - Abby Waner

Black is one of my all time favorite Blue Devils...... glad that she spurned other schools.

Waner - Everybody here thought she was headed this way but got "stolen" by GG offering her sister, which Geno wouldn't do.

Anosike - UConn made a late play for her after trying mightily to pry Chante Black off Duke's doorstep. Word was she didn't appreciate being Plan B, was already in good with TN's exceptional class that year.

Bjorklund - early interest, then paths diverged.

Fowles - people here thought she had UConn interest long after it was clear she was staying south. I remember because I adopted a standard slogan for use every time her name came up: "No Fowles! No Fowles!"

I had charm even then.

"charade Houston"

Typo or intentional? The latter works for me.

I believe they had an on campus visit, with their Dad. I believe Bubba like UConn. Geno would not commit to accepting both. HuskyNan can feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

From Wiki: "Paris chose Oklahoma over UConn, California, Texas, UCLA, and Syracuse."

There are rumors that the Paris twins were heading to Cal but the AD botched it because she couldn't guarantee them that the head coach's contract would be renewed (and it wasn't). I am fairly certain that Courtney did say UConn was her personal runner-up choice in an interview after losing badly to UConn her senior year of college and praising the program. But that could have been just in the moment. I also vaguely recall something strange about Erika Arriaran (California product who went to Texas) was the one who convinced them to visit Oklahoma, otherwise they might not have.

Don't think that's what he was asking, but a good answer anyway. Tihana Abrlic. Also Courtney Gaine. If you count transfers (out) that adds up quite a few more.

Tracy Lis wanted UC, however, the feeling was "not" mutual. According to stories, Geno did not want her.

But my point would have been that she may have ended up here because I think we wanted her.

This thread, and all these types of threads really interest me. I don't know what % we get of the players we really really want- and would take with an early commitment----is it 25/35/50%????
We have identified numerous quality players that would have been, or could have been huskies. They have all gone and played at other programs with other quality players. And yet, we usually beat all these players that went to top programs, that almost came here, by 15-25 pts consistently. It's an amazing thing.

Not quite true. Duke was taking Emily Waner with or without Abby, as Duke needed a point guard (and early commit Mitch could not be a PG in college). Waner would have started had Harding not had the extra year due to her suspension. Emily was a Top 60 player and a great shooter.
