Recruits at the game today

I think Pemberton is more of a Qunnipiac level player, good player but probably not high D!. Don't know anything about Turner or Marsh, Coles is a 6'10 freshman at Holy Cross in Waterbury, he is raw and skinny as a rail from what I've heard but heard he could have serious upside, 6'10 at the age is intriguing. The good news is Govan is at the game with his buddies, let's get this win and sign Jessie.

Maybe we got lucky and the recruits got lost in a snowstorm! Seriously, just an ugly game to watch. Never mind that we lost, but 7 assists on 16 baskets? Maybe easy for the kids watching to say "hey I could contribute", but also maybe they look at the offense that's a ton of one on one stuff, and say "nope, not for me"...

Hey, maybe Jesse will look and realize that he really will have no competition for minutes if he comes here......because it was obvious today we are a donut team

Good news is everyone of them now know they can play at UConn…….and NOW!!

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:……..good call CTB
I mean, its only reasonable to think that lol. My eyes are accustomed to this type of play we do it once every month or so it seems...

I hope the recruits saw a team that is growing, and has some great pieces, but also saw a place they could come and contribute sooner rather than later. I hope they noticed the improvement that Brimah has shown over the course of the season and saw a program they'd like to be a part of...

If I were Govan and witnessed how we failed to establish an inside game and basically neglected to even try to go inside, I'd have a lot of questions on how I'd fit in. KO might have a tough sell here.

That very we could be what Govan thinks. However, Ollie can also be like, "Look, we don't have a real post player down low that we can feed the ball to that we know can creat something for them self. If you come in and work hard and show that you can play well in the post you can have immediate minutes. Many other schools have post guys in front of you right now. UConn doesn't. Come here and be a big part of the rotation immediately."

This isn't 1954 - not like the only way recruits can see a team play is by the one game on a recruiting visit. They've likely seen high-profile teams play enough already - they visit campus to meet the team, check out chicks, see what the atmosphere is like, etc. - they're 16-17. They aren't sitting there with a scratch pad scientifically charting X's and O's.

The coaches can slap together a DVD of all the different post plays we have from game action this season and show Govan 37 different ways we could get him the ball on the low block in five minutes, even if the plays didn't amount to anything in this year's game action. "See, right here, Amida can't keep his position on the low block and has to kick it back out. Or we run a great set here for Tyler, but he gets his shot blocked because he isn't a good finisher. But If we run that play for you, you can go to work. We expect you to get us buckets."

The worst thing would have been for the place to be half-full and for the atmosphere to suck. Then it would lend credence to the idea planted by rival recruiters that our conference affiliation is causing enthusiasm to drop off. Losing a game doesn't matter much, other than the intangible factor that a place going bananas after winning a close game could make an impact on an impressionable mind. But that's always an inherent risk of bringing recruits to games.

Maybe having the '99 nat'l championship team there will help. It's got to be cool meeting Rip Hamilton and maybe seeing his NBA championship rings. He does have rings, right?

Won one with Detroit in '04.
