Just watched Air again. Great source material and Affleck is so good. His decision to never use an actor to portray Jordan was perfect and it all builds to the Matt Damon Sonny Vaccaro sales pitch/speech which shows what Jordan's life and career will be with all the Jordan clips throughout his career. It's emotional and incredible film making.

I watched the Accountant 2 on Amazon prime. No accounting in this one; so that is a little disappointing. But still a very watchable movie.

The hybrid era is awful. The cars are way too big. Monaco was even worse than it usually is. I think you have forgotten what good racing looks like. Also none of these drivers are remotely likeable.

Max is obviously the most talented driver out there still and it’s not even close.

If you like F1, I do. There is a documentary and a six-part mini series on Ayrton Senna. Both are very, very good. He raced in a time, not so long ago, when death on the track was a regular feature of season. His story is compelling and both the series and movie are worth your time.

Sinners. Michael B. Jordan stars as Smoke and Stack. Directed and written by Ryan Coogler. Set in 1930s Mississippi with a heavy musical emphasis, touching on some traditions and spiritual beliefs. Beautifully filmed, really solid acting and writing. Can’t say much without spoilers but this was very good.

BFG, on Disney+

It's about a giant, an orphan, more giants, the Queen of England and some helicopters.

Steven Spielberg directed it, quite entertaining. Mark Rylance is good in everything.

BFG combines the magic of Spielberg, Disney and the spirit of Deepster and gets 3.5 out of five Deepsters and a rating of Deeply Good+

The original (first ever feature length cartoon) was a monumental feat and made Disney what it was when Disney was actually worth something.

The idea of remaking it, even if the idea had been to remake it correctly would have been sacrilegious. What it ended up being was an abomination.

Gal's acting had nothing to do with the horror that was Snow White. But she was a very good Wonder Woman. I also liked her her in Keeping Up With The Joneses an under rated, very funny little film.

John Wick 4. Absolutely absurd, even by John Wick standards.

I like how the bad guys who come with swords all come at the same time. The guys with hatchets all come at the same time. The guys with guns all come at the same time. And John Wick somehow ends up fighting those guys with exactly what they brought to fight him with. He never ends up with a machine gun in his hand when the knife fighters show up. He is so unlucky that way.

Also, there are 40 people in 20 matching BMW 5-series literally circling Paris on the off chance that a bounty will be announced on someone walking down the street.

I liked it anyway.

This one is a solid Three Deepsters and a Deeply Good rating.

Captain America Brave New World. This was weird. Not sure why they made this movie, especially since it relies heavily on past events that are referenced but which never appeared in any Marvel movie. Harrison Ford is pretty good. Looks very fit for his age. I appreciate that Anthony Mackie's character has huge doubts that he can be "Captain America". The ridiculous occurs regularly, as expected. Some very weird things are depicted, like Japan having a functional military. The casting choice for the President's Black Widow security aide could not have been worse. The woman looks like a 40 year old in the body of a stunted 8 year old. Just find a random fit, athletic actress, it's not that hard.

All in all, pretty bad, yet not as bad as it might have been. I still don't understand why this story needed telling.

Bucky is a guy they could make a movie around, especially if he was dating Liv Tyler. The missed opportunities.

Wes Anderson movies are pretty much critic-proof these days. I think how you feel about The Phoenician Scheme will mirror what your feeling about recent Anderson movies is. We loved it. I thought it was hilarious. More great visuals, of course.

I’m a huge Wes fan, like top 5 directors for me. I liked Phoenician Scheme. I did not like French Dispatch really, but I really liked Asteroid City.

Fantastic Mr. Fox, Darjeeling Limited and Grand Budapest still remain my favorite.

I liked it. It's not a great movie by any means, but it's solid entertainment.

I feel like the head of the "kiddie computer camp" was more significantly impaired in the first movie. In this one, she seems like a nerdy mute. I like the sequence where the federal agent wanted them to stop, and they all ignored her, but, yeah, it was far-fetched.

The speed dating sequence sets the table for that. It talks about all the prep work he did. I did like the sequence showing him using exactly the same lines delivered exactly the same way in the same abbreviated laugh.

I have mentioned before that I have liked quite a bit a few Wes Anderson movies, my favorite of his is Moonrise Kingdom. I did not care for French Dispatch as well. I recently recorded Asteroid City, so I hope to be able to watch that one soon.

I'll be interested to hear your take on it. To me, it was a pleasant enough viewing experience, very typically Wes Anderson in that it was visually engaging with interesting dialogue. For whatever reason, I never retain any of the narratives from his movies (except for The Life Aquatic, because that was a hysterical premise). I still enjoy them though.

The Life Aquatic was the first Wes Anderson film that I ever saw, I know I saw it a number of years before I knew who he was, and it was way before I started seeing and enjoying several of his other movies. I recall that when I first saw it, I didn't care for it all that much. I have not seen it in many years, at this point I suspect that it is possible that if I ever saw it again I might end up liking it a bit instead of not caring for it like I did when I first saw it given that I took a liking to a number of his films.
