Seems to me to be shooting it as he jumps and not at the zenith of his jump.

Not always an indicator of poor shot mechanics. Curry does this. If it's fluid and repeatable then that's all that matters. A lot of really bad shooters pause at the top and flip at it and it just looks unnatural. I get what you're saying though, Curry would be the exception not the rule.
