OT: - Realignment? | The Boneyard

OT: Realignment?

If I’m the big12 I add houston, ucf, memphis and cincy. Losing their flagship programs but At least they’ll actually have 12 again lol. not to mention the look on Aresco’s face, priceless.

LOL. That will solve their problems.
P5 money solves so many problems.........................................................
UConn could use some of that monetary infusion

I was talking about the Big 12.

Bye bye, college sports are such a mess.

Orangebloods.com on Twitter: "Texas expected to inform Big 12 as nearly as next week it intends to leave https://post original url/LNCRPY1qqx" / Twitter

I will laugh if this goes through and somehow inconveniences the AAC

I honestly really like the big 12 and I think it geographically makes a lot of sense (besides WVU) so I can’t quite understand why Texas and OU would want to leave.

Meanwhile, on the AAC board…

720 versus 439 million in revenue. Geographically speaking Texas and OU border Missouri, Arkansas and Louisiana, so it’s not like squeezing CT into the sec or big12.

Security and payout increase. Also the best football conference, and won't hurt OU's or UT's to get into the football playoffs, if the playoffs expand to 12.

Here we go again.

A high-level university official informed Orangebloods the expectation is that Texas and Oklahoma would inform the Big 12 as early as next week that both schools intend to decline on extending the existing set of media rights. The contract expires in 2025.

"That should start the dominos," the source told Orangebloods.

14 schools vs. 10. 51 vs. 43 million. Not quite that dramatic a difference. Texas and Oklahoma both make a lot more than 51. Doesn't seem worth it to go from huge fish in medium pond to big fish in big pond.

Hey I don’t support it but sec will be able to bring in even more revenue once they add UT and OU. They should be able to pay out more per school than the Big10

Texas and OU will pay for themselves and then some.

If it happens, it’ll murder the Big 12’s television deals and probably bury the AAC. Can’t see the Big 12 not backfilling with at least two AAC schools (UCF would be a lockish-type prospect) and as many as four.

(Will not be Memphis.)

someone should create a board here just for conference realignment talk. It could even have threads for tweets that are considered "key" and possibly even some that are not-"key".
If it is important/annoying enough to you for you to post about it, is it really that hard to not open a thread - with a title that perfectly describes the content - that you may think is misplaced?

The best thing about joining the big East was putting that board in my rear view mirror.
We still are on the outside looking in on P5 media rights revenue. Sure the Big East sucks less than the American but we should be scrambling to explore whether there is an opportunity here. Quietly, of course. I’m not sure we are positioned to do so with a interim President.

Minimally AD Dave should be thinking about scheduling opportunities for football.

Can we just rename the conferences while we’re at. Oklahoma and Texas are certainly not in the Southeast part of the country

I think the B12 would have to add 4 teams to stay alive, and if I had to guess the mutually beneficial candidates are:
1. UCF
2. Houston
3. BYU
4. Cincy
5. Boise
6. Memphis

Maybe get crazy and go to 16 with SMU and Tulsa. I’m just here for madness.

If this goes through for the SEC does everyone start looking to expand again? I would assume no leave will stand pat except the big 10. I don’t know why but I feel like we aren’t going anywhere again.
