It makes sense... If it happens the Heat will be more lethal than they were this year...

Hate the idea, as I hate the Heat. But they could use him. Miller has that bad back, and Wade needs to play a few fewer minutes. Chalmers is inconsistent outside, so Ray can spell Wade or Chalmers, with Wade playing PG (he does anyway). I think Ray would like to win another title.

I look at it this way. Rooting against LeBron is akin to rooting against Tiger Woods in his heyday, almost a guaranteed losing proposition. LeBron did a ton to answer his critics this year and maybe it'd be fun to watch and root for the best player of his generation (let's put Durant in next generation for now). But right now I cannot root for LeBron, however put Ray Allen on the team and I can definitely find some love for the Heat.

It'd really suck for the Celtics, but as of right now they've got 3 guys on the roster and their best case scenario is one more year or lightning in a bottle with the old guys + resign Green, resign Bass etc.. Long-term they are better off rebuilding as even best case I don't think they are better than Miami or the Thunder.

I don't think Ainge has any problem letting Allen walk, resigning Green, Bass, Pietrous, and developing JuJuan Johnson and Bradley IF KG comes back. The Celtics, under Ainge, have rarely had an uneventful draft so tomorrow could be interesting...I don't see them as serious contenders in the east for a little while now, but there are some nice pieces to build around and/or develop.

I dont know, I think they've got one good run left. Ray is gone, no surprise there, but Garnett's gonna come back. Pierce, Rondo, Bradley, if they sign Green, that's not a bad core. Hope they steal Royce White from ISU and they could be pretty good.

I actually liked the Heat back in the Rony Seikaly days. I don't have a team nowadays, but I can live with Ray getting another ring and playing alongside more elite players. That would be the ultimate end to the Calhoun end.

I trust you mean the Calhoun era. IMO, the ultimate end to the Calhoun era would be Calhoun's and UConn's 4th National Championship.

Damn, thank you for the correction. I agree a 4th chamionship would be an ultimate, too!

As a resident of Miami and a long time Heat fan, this news has me almost as excited as the Lebron signing :) All I want now is to trade Bosh to Charlotte for Kemba and Ben. Joel Anthony to Washington for Emeka.

Bosh is their most important player not named Lebron

If I were Reily i wohld love Ray. I Would also trade Bosh for a bigger post presence and another shooter.

I respect lebron for his game but not his comments.

The Heat just walked through the playoffs. You don't trade any of the big 3.

Oh, I meant to tell you, when you were in that coma, the Heat got taken to 7 games by the Celtics. You can probably catch it on ESPN3.

I wouldn't trade Bosh either.

Nice try. Bosh would have turned that into a 5 game series.

For whatever reason, people seem to underestimate how good Bosh is and how important he is to their team. Obviously Miami was taken to the brink and it is always dangerous to assume anything, but it seems safe to say that with all three guys healthy it is going to be very difficult for anyone to beat them, especially in the East.

Don't follow the pro game any more, but what a better place for an older great player with a tired body to wind down is career, nice sunny warm Miami.

Ray is staying a Celtic. They have a run in them. Bradley was a key loss and he will be back. I am not pleased with their draft picks, but I think Ainge has something brewing.

yeah I see Ray staying a Celtic he has his home here, he will be paid more, he would come off the bench anyways if he were going to Miami. The Celtics hate the Heat more then anybody especially the big 4 they want to take them down badly, im a Knicks fan but I would rather see Ray on the Celtics then the Heat.

Grew up a knicks fan ( Reed,Clyde DeBu,Barnett Jax,The Pearl), and hated the Celtics.Probably saw about 10 games a year at the Garden. Now I root for both. Here in the ATL there's not much to get excited about. But I am a Ray rooter and anyone else from Uconn.
