Jon Rothstein(?), CBS Sportsline college basketball expert was on to break down the brackets. They began by discussing the Iona game. Mike was saying how in the first half Iona played as well as possible for a college team, ala Loyola Marymount, UNLV, etc. Rothstein said it was a microcosm of their season; they had great wins over MD, etc, but terrible losses to Hofstra, Sienna.

Mentioned a player that as he goes, the team goes, when he's making shots, then they are very good. Said it reminded him of Rashad.

I love a Rashad reference as much as the next guy, but that's the best example he could come up with?

that's Rothstein's m.o., if you follow him on twitter he always does the "there's alot of player in player " comparisons, I like Rothstein but it becomes overkill. During his appearance he's already compared K Marshall to MWill and H Barnes to Rudy. Also compared a Xavier player(I missed the name) to Jeff Adrien.

He attended a Uconn preseason practice and if you read his tweets afterward, you would have thought we were the Miami Heat. He compared Olander to Troy Murphy.

Rothstein in clearly a fan / follower of UCONN. So is Francessa BTW (or at least he is a fan of Calhoun). Neither one of these guys will ever work for ESPN with that on their resume.

Its so funny hearing the love fest between Calhoun and Francesa for the last few years, because for 10 years before that they hated each others guts.

Jon used to write for Husky Blue and White, both when we ran it and prior to that.

Very good guy.

Ever since they buried the hatchet on Rod Sellers, Francessa loves Calhoun. I liked in the interview yesterday when Francessa said we wouldn't be in the tourney next year how quickly Calhoun jumped in, saying how hard he was going to fight for it, appeal etc.

Francessa likes Calhoun, but he takes plenty of shots at Uconn. When Calhoun comes on, he bites his tongue and kisses ass. Pretty much what he does with every guest he has.

Except darelle revis. Fat francessa won't be talking to any jets soon

I disagree. I listen to Francessa a lot and he's always very complimentary towards UConn.

I met Mike at his show this year at Mohegan Sun and we were talking about about UConn and all he had were good things to say.

Mike always says Calhoun and UConn is the best program building job in college basketball history, so maybe he takes a shot here and there that I haven't heard, but overall he seems like a supporter.

haha. I remember reading that tweet and i thought that comparison to Troy Murphy was a little unrealistic. I have gotten the impression though that Rothstein likes Uconn. Francesa always talks up the program. In the interview yesterday he came right out and said Uconn is the most successful team over the last 15 years.

Somewhere a toothless Alabama basketball fan shudder with fear, RASHAD ANDERSON!!

Yea I don't hear the shots either, whenever Calhoun is on and they have their lovefest, a disgruntled (Cuse) fan will always call in and say how come you didn't ask Calhoun about Nate Miles or this controversy or whatever and Francesca will always cut them off and say that stuff happens everywhere.
