Saw some people questioning Halloween so I decided to make a thread on ranking holidays. Obviously I can’t do all since I’m Christian.
1. Christmas
2. Thanksgiving
3. 4th of July
4. New Years Eve
5. Halloween
6. Easter
7. Memorial Day

You forgot Labor Day, Veteran's Day, and MLK Day.

I'm not big on Halloween to begin with, though I like carving pumpkins and seeing the costumes. Halloween falls to the bottom the list given it typically does not come with an associated day off from work or school. The bottom of the list goes something like:

St. Patrick's Day
Halloween
Valentine's Day
Groundhog Day.

1. Thanksgiving. (Now the only sure-fire Thursday four-day-weekend holiday.)
2. Christmas
3. New Year’s Eve
4. Any real holiday that falls on a Thursday
5. Memorial Day
6. July 4th, when it’s not on a Thursday
7. Labor Day
8. Easter
9. MLK, Veteran’s Day, President’s Day. (You have to work, but you don’t have to get the mail.)
10. July 4th, when it’s on a Wednesday. It is a bright shiny lie of a holiday.

Halloween, St. Patrick’s Day, etc., are not holidays.

New Years Eve is not a Holiday. It's New Years Day.

1. Thanksgiving
2. Christmas Day
3. New Years Day
4. July 4 (unless on a Wednesday, in which case it is after Memorial and Labor.)
5. Memorial Day
6. Labor Day
7. Easter
Tie 8: Columbus Day
Tie 8: MLK Day
Tie 8: Presidents' Day
Tie 8: Veterans' Day
Interchangeable, dependent on day off or not.

a. Any holiday that falls on a non-Wednesday can easily be made into a 4 day weekend with a PTO day.
b. The holiday's tied at 8 particular stink if you don't have them off for work, because the kids probably do from school, forcing the use of a vacation day.
c. Fishy's correct. What I'll call Day's of Interest are excuses for "extracurriculars." Not holidays.

Spot on analyzation of the 4th

Except that the 4th falling on a Monday or Friday is the exact same as Saturday or Sunday.

With the caveat that no vacation days are to be used for that weekend, I would actually posit that the 4th falling on a Friday or Saturday is better than Sunday or Monday.

Toss the Super Bowl in there too
Not a holiday and no harm/no foul now that booze is sold on Sundays in Connecticut. This is why Easter is #7 in my hierarchy. It always falls on a weekend day.

The game is on early enough that you can still get a full night sleep after the final gun. If you drank too much, that is on you.

Thanksgiving's the best.

It's a holiday about food. That's it. It's a holiday centered around eating turkey and stuff.

Only sickening individuals don't like turkey or Thanksgiving. I mean real sick. Like, they should be rounded up sick.

Veteran's Day always brings fond memories. With my Grandfather being a veteran of WWI and my father a WWII veteran we always attended ceremonies at the local American Legion in the town where I grew up in eastern PA. I never heard my grandmother call it Veterans' day. She still referred to it as Armistice Day (Its original name) until the day she died.

Christmas is awesome, most of the other ones kind of suck.

Thanksgiving is alright because there is football, I eat a ton and get drunk but the meal is a lot of food that kind of sucks.

Thanksgiving is top notch, not so much for the (traditional) foods, but it marks the unofficial beginning of the Holiday Season, football, friends, family, and a 4 day weekend (for most).

When the hell did that happen?????
That is so great... I can’t wait till my kid goes to college and I can move home. Buy beer on Sunday.
I mean I can now but it would be special at home.
